Let’s create a brighter future together, let’s make a difference
It’s important to know, what you do matters. At Zurich, we don’t just cover, we care.
From October 2026, Zurich will enter the Australian personal home insurance market while expanding our existing motor footprint through a newly enhanced partnership with Honey Insurance. This is a significant milestone for our business, combining Zurich’s underwriting strength and claims expertise with Honey’s digital-first approach to deliver a faster, smarter and more seamless experience for customers.
This role sits at the heart of that launch, leading a newly formed team of Claims Advisors and shaping how we deliver a modern, digital-first home claims experience.
As a Home Claims Loss Assessor, you’ll play a key role in delivering fair and timely outcomes for our customers when they need us most. Sitting within our General Insurance Consumer team and reporting to the Crew Lead, you’ll assess residential property claims and help guide the best repair or settlement path with care, expertise and integrity.
This is a hands-on role where your technical building knowledge and customer focus come together. You’ll partner closely with claims teams, suppliers and customers to ensure every decision is practical, accurate and supports a positive claims experience.
You will also be responsible for the following:
Conduct on-site and desktop assessments to determine cause, extent and value of damage
Prepare clear scopes of work and cost estimates aligned to appropriate repair methods
Recommend optimal settlement options balancing customer needs, quality and cost
Build and manage relationships with builders, suppliers and restoration partners
Provide technical guidance to claims teams, including support on complex matters
Maintain accurate documentation and identify potential risks, issues or improvement opportunities
Important to your success – let’s grow together
You are someone who brings a strong customer-first mindset, with the ability to balance empathy and sound judgement. You enjoy working collaboratively, are open to learning, and take pride in making a genuine difference in the moments that matter.
To be successful, you will have the following:
Experience in property, home or contents claims assessment, building inspection or a similar technical field
Strong knowledge of residential construction, materials and repair methodologies
Ability to scope and estimate building repairs or replacements
Understanding of insurance principles and claims processes in a general insurance environment
Confident communication skills to explain technical outcomes to customers and stakeholders
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Enjoy 5 weeks of annual leave for permanent staff through our Z leave initiative, along with 15 days of personal/carer’s leave as we empower our people to manage their own wellbeing. Plus, access to Family Care (parental leave).
Benefit from a hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home per week for full-time employees.
Access programs to stay healthy and feel healthier, receive an AUD$500 wellbeing payment per year, and a AUD$295 new starter e-voucher for your work-from-home setup (flex work - hybrid working), along with other great benefits through our Shine portal.
Grow and thrive in your career with our award-winning training programs. We support and encourage your development because our strength lies in our people, and we value your individuality.
Work with global, diverse, and inclusive teams; explore your passions, fuel innovation, drive equity, collaborate, and make a positive difference beyond your role.
