Full job description
Hi there, thanks for stopping by. We're glad to have gotten your attention, but we'll be thrilled when you apply. We're on the hunt for a new member of our team. We're eager to find someone who is passionate about what they do, and is excited for a new journey with our fantastic firm.
About Carbon. We’re not your average professional services firm. Carbon launched in 2014 with the goal to shake up the industry and change the level of service that small and medium business owners received. We combine all the core business services in the one place (from accounting to bookkeeping to finance to insurance and everything in between), bringing together some of the best experts in the industry so our clients can focus on doing more of what they love.
What it means to be a Carbonite. Our Carbonites are our best asset, and we’ve grown from a small team of 13 people in a single office in Perth to over 300 Carbonites nationwide, with offices in multiple states. A key element in our plan of world domination is having the best people possible to help us along the way. This is where you come in.
As our next Carbonite, you’ll be joining a team at multiple levels. You’ll be part of a team in your office, working with other talented people such as yourself. You’ll also be joining our national ranks, meaning you can easily tap into a knowledge base for a tricky question or to bounce ideas off of for the next team activity.
Empowering our Carbonites is a big part of our mission and vision, so we focus on helping our Carbonites learn and grow, developing their careers in the direction that they want to go in.
About the role. As an Accountant at Carbon, you’ll be responsible for delivering quality accounting outcomes including the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and tax requirements. You’ll be preparing jobs from start to finish across a range of areas such as financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and cost management. Because of this, you need to have experience in a public practice in Australia.
You’ll be working within a team of Carbonites who are all excellent at what they do and strive to foster a positive team environment where you’ll be able to thrive.
Tertiary accounting qualification.
Completed or completing CA/CPA.
Experience working within a public practice in Australia.
Experience in the preparation of Financial Statements and tax returns.
Excellent knowledge of Australian taxation legislation.
Experience with MYOB/Xero and the Microsoft Office suite.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
You’ll be perfect for the role if:
You love a bit of team banter and activities
You want to be part of the coolest firm in Australia
You’re keen to join a company that encourage you to define your own career path
No two days will be the same, but here’s an insight into what you can expect:
Client management and liaison.
Preparing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, and small to medium businesses.
Creating and advising on various trading structures.
Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS).
Liaising with the ATO.
Business budgeting and cash flow management.
Business benchmarking.
Additional ad hoc tasks.
Great, we'd love to hear from you. Keep in mind that the desired skills and experience we listed above are all important components to this role, but that doesn't mean you need to tick every box to apply! We're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and exciting team, so even if your past experience doesn't perfectly align with everything listed but you're passionate about this role and joining our firm, apply anyways.
At Carbon, we know we’re at our best when we look out for one another; prioritise respect, fairness, development and wellbeing; foster an inclusive culture and embrace diversity in all forms. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of their background, experience, identity, ability or thinking style, and if you need assistance or an accommodation during the application process for accessibility reasons this is available upon request.
Carbon Group brings a dynamic, energised approach to financial management services that is game changing for the businesses we work with.
We’ve brought together a group of highly motivated and qualified individuals, all specialists in their individual areas. Launching in 2014 with divisions in accounting and bookkeeping, we soon introduced cloud integration, insurance and finance broking to our service offering. Over the past few years, we've grown rapidly and now have offices in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and WA, offering a total of nine services divisions led by industry specialists.
We stand out because we’re different in many ways. We bring an energetic focus on technology and progression to the solutions we deliver to clients who trust us with creating change and initiating growth in their businesses.
