Mō te tūranga - About the role

The Senior Associate position is a senior credit analyst role in the Research & Analysis (R&A) team within Institutional Relationships. You will manage end-to-end transaction processes, primarily focused on credit analysis and structuring, for new and existing customers. You will also be responsible for the ongoing management of a portfolio of New Zealand’s largest and most well-known corporates. This role will have a focus on the retirement village and aged care sector and while experience working with this sector would be beneficial, it is not a pre-requisite with a growth mindset. Additionally, this role is responsible for identifying and appropriately managing operational, compliance, conduct and reputation risk.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like

As a Senior Associate, you will have the opportunity to: 

• Complete credit submissions for our largest and most complex customers, including counterparty credit analysis, financial forecasts and industry analysis, while delivering exceptional customer insights.
• Manage the annual review process for existing customers within your portfolio.
• Connect with both internal and external stakeholders to drive customer satisfaction and successful collaboration with key internal service partners, including Senior Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, DCM, Markets, Trade Finance and Transaction Banking.
• Proactively manage risk by identifying risks and appropriate mitigants to balance the best interests of the bank and the customer.
• Ensure R&A processes, procedures, and reporting meet key performance targets and deliver on the goals of the New Zealand Institutional Banking business.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Extensive banking experience and a degree in a relevant discipline, such as Accounting, Finance, Law or Engineering.
• Credit analysis skills and experience are essential.
• A solid understanding of risks arising from credit, market and operational risk across customers, products and countries, and how to mitigate them.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated and organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A strong understanding of the financial market/industry and competitor activity, coupled with the ability to analyse financial information.
