As part of our digital transformation business, you’ll help clients unlock innovation, embrace the future and change communities for good.
And we’ll help you stimulate new thinking, accelerate your career and connect you to projects that really matter.
Join our team of over 600 data scientists, design thinkers, immersive digital consultants, project managers and innovators, all working to create positive change for generations to come.
Our pledge to you Join GHD
This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people-focused guidance, supporting a small team of specialists to deliver high-quality outcomes across complex projects.
Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking a GIS & Location Intelligence Team Lead to lead our Perth-based GHD Digital team, driving the growth and delivery of GIS, geospatial and location intelligence services across GHD’s projects and digital solutions landscape.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced GIS professional who is passionate about developing people, advancing geospatial capability, and delivering innovative location intelligence solutions that help our clients make better decisions.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of GIS and geospatial services across Western Australia and the broader APAC region, supporting major projects across infrastructure, environment, water, energy and natural resources. Working with an energetic and high-performing team, you will help strengthen GHD’s GIS capability, foster innovation, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality client outcomes.
In this role, you will:
Lead and mentor a team of GIS, geospatial and location intelligence specialists, fostering a collaborative, high-performing and customer-focused culture
Balance technical leadership with people leadership responsibilities, including prioritisation, delegation, coaching, quality assurance and career development
Provide technical oversight and governance for GIS and geospatial projects, ensuring delivery excellence and adherence to best practices
Shape the strategic direction, design and delivery of GIS, geospatial and location intelligence solutions, while identifying opportunities to leverage data, analytics, automation and AI technologies to improve project outcomes and deliver greater value for clients
Drive the adoption of modern GIS, spatial analytics, cloud geospatial and location intelligence solutions using technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, Azure, Fabric, Power BI and related platforms
Partner with project teams across environment, infrastructure, water, energy and digital advisory services to deliver innovative geospatial solutions that create measurable value for clients
Support business development activities, proposal preparation and client engagement opportunities that showcase GHD’s GIS and location intelligence capabilities
Identify opportunities to integrate data analytics, automation and AI-enabled approaches into GIS workflows to improve efficiency, insight generation and client outcomes
Promote data governance, spatial data management and secure solution design principles across projects and operational services
What you will bring to the team:
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring GIS, geospatial or location intelligence professionals
Strong technical expertise in GIS, spatial data management, geospatial analysis and enterprise GIS platforms
Advanced experience with Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and associated geospatial applications
Experience delivering GIS and location intelligence solutions within consulting, engineering, infrastructure, environmental or natural resource sectors
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business outcomes
A collaborative leadership style that builds trust, develops people and encourages continuous improvement
Experience with, or an interest in, emerging technologies such as data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and an understanding of how these capabilities can complement and enhance GIS and location intelligence solutions
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in GIS, geospatial analysis, location intelligence, spatial data management or related disciplines within complex project or consulting environments
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Surveying, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
Proven experience delivering enterprise GIS solutions using Esri technologies, cloud platforms, databases and reporting tools
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders while maintaining high-quality delivery outcomes
Strong technical capability in spatial analysis, GIS application configuration, data management, Python scripting and geospatial visualisation
Experience with data engineering, analytics, automation, AI/ML platforms or cloud-native technologies such as Azure, Fabric, Power BI or similar technologies would be highly regarded, but is not essential
Experience contributing to proposals, business development initiatives and client relationship management activities
You’ll be at your best when:
You thrive on leading GIS professionals, solving complex geospatial challenges and helping clients unlock the value of location intelligence. You combine strong technical expertise with people leadership skills to build capability, support your team and deliver meaningful outcomes across a diverse portfolio of GIS and digital projects.
Exposure to data, analytics, automation and AI technologies will help you further enhance the solutions delivered by your team, but deep expertise in these areas is not essential. We are looking first and foremost for a strong GIS and Location Intelligence leader who can guide our capability, develop our people and help shape the future of geospatial services at GHD.
