Job Expectations
Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Senior Security Risk Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Security Risk.
A bit about your role
The Senior Security Risk Specialist is responsible for overseeing nbn’s security risk and issue program across Cyber, Physical, Personnel, and Supply Chain Security domains. The role assesses the effectiveness of security risk frameworks, supports compliance with TSRMP and SOCI obligations, and provides risk insights to management.
Key responsibilities include managing risks, issues, and remediation activities in ServiceNow, monitoring remediation effectiveness, analysing risk trends, and supporting governance reporting. The role also partners with stakeholders across the business to develop risk treatment plans, challenge risk decisions where appropriate, and ensure security risks are effectively managed within nbn’s risk appetite.
A bit about you
Tertiary qualified in Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Commerce, or a related discipline would be advantageous, with demonstrated experience in security, assurance, risk management, or a similar field.
You will bring a strong understanding of security threats and demonstrated experience developing, managing, or delivering security programs, risk frameworks, or security solutions. Knowledge of industry control frameworks such as PSPF, ACSC ISM, Essential Eight, and NIST CSF is essential.
You are a strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Highly organised and outcomes-focused, you can effectively manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
Your ability to analyse complex issues, provide pragmatic risk advice, and build trusted relationships will enable you to drive effective security risk management and assurance outcomes across the organisation.
