As the successful candidate, you will:
Support the planning, design, and operation of tailings storage facilities and mine waste management systems.
Assist with tailings deposition modelling, storage planning, and facility performance evaluations.
Participate in geotechnical analyses including stability, seepage, deformation, and liquefaction assessments.
Support geotechnical field investigations, laboratory testing programs, and data interpretation.
Assist with development of engineering drawings, technical reports, and design documentation.
Contribute to dam safety reviews, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance activities.
Work within multidisciplinary project teams to deliver studies, designs, and construction support services.
Develop technical skills in geotechnical engineering, tailings management, and mine waste facility design.
You bring to the role:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
0-3 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, mining, tailings management, civil engineering, or related fields.
Previous experience in mining operations, construction, field investigations, or engineering design is considered an asset.
Basic understanding of soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering principles, and earthworks design.
Interest in tailings storage facilities, mine waste management, dam engineering, and geotechnical analysis.
Familiarity with geotechnical field investigations, laboratory testing programs, and interpretation of subsurface data is an asset.
Knowledge of geotechnical software packages (e.g., GeoStudio, Slide2, PLAXIS, FLAC, OpenGround, or similar) is an asset.
Familiarity with mine planning, tailings deposition modelling, or GIS software is considered an asset.
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Demonstrated technical report writing and documentation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
Willingness to travel to mine sites and participate in field investigations as required.
Eagerness to learn and develop expertise in tailings engineering, geotechnical design, and dam safety practices.
Compensation:
Range: $82,000.00 - $83,000.00
