The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research in synthetic medicinal chemistry, focusing on the design and characterization of novel compounds for drug discovery. They will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support biophysical and biological evaluation of these compounds.
Candidates must hold a PhD in organic chemistry or a related discipline with demonstrated experience in medicinal or discovery chemistry. The role requires the ability to work creatively with diverse chemical scaffolds and a proven track record of academic research and publications.
The School of Chemistry teaches more than 2000 undergraduate students each year from many different faculties and offers four different undergraduate programs leading to majors in chemistry that are taught in five teaching laboratories specialising in First Year, Synthetic, Analytical and Physical Chemistry.
The Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) will contribute to a defined research program in synthetic medicinal chemistry, with a focus on generating novel compounds, analogue series for downstream screening and characterisation. The role will require creative problem-solving, careful purification and structural characterisation, and the ability to adapt synthetic routes for structurally diverse targets. The successful candidate will work closely with collaborators across analytical chemistry and drug discovery to ensure that compounds are suitable for subsequent biophysical and biological evaluation.
The role reports to Professor Vinh Nguyen and has no direct reports.
