Catholic Social Services is currently seeking to fill the position of Practicum Supervisor/Job Developer (CF). The ideal candidate should possess a blend of workforce development, coaching and relationship management skills and the ability to build trust with both participants and employers to create positive work-based learning experiences.
This position will support the delivery of the new employment training programs: Ready to Serve (RTS).
This is an 18-month, full-time contract position, ending on December 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension. Job application closing date: August 10, 2026.
The Practicum Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between participants, employers, and the program team, providing coaching, monitoring, and support throughout the placement experience. This key role ensures that participants develop job-ready skills, maintain strong workplace performance, and successfully transition into employment after their Work-Based Learning (WBL) placements.
Program Overview:
Ready to Serve (RTS)
A 16-week program prepares participants for employment in the food and service industries through employment readiness workshops, paid work-based learning, and follow-up support.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of all WBL placements across multiple cohorts and several organizations in Edmonton and surrounding environs.
Support Job Developers in matching participants to appropriate employer sites based on skills, interests, and program requirements.
Work alongside Job Developer to conduct workplace readiness assessments prior to placement and ensure all WBL agreements, and safety documentation, are completed and compliant with funder and agency standards.
Provide employers with orientation on program expectations, reporting requirements, and communication protocols.
Provide ongoing coaching, check-ins, and performance monitoring against learning objectives for each participant during placement.
Conduct site visits, virtual check-ins, mid-point and final progress evaluations, and maintain accurate documentation of WBL hours, evaluations, any incidents and employer feedback.
Identify barriers to success early and work with the team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
Facilitate conflict resolution between participants and employers when needed.
Support participants in developing confidence, resilience, and professional workplace behaviours that translate to successful employment outcomes.
Maintain strong relationships with employer partners across targeted industries.
Respond promptly to employer concerns, performance issues, or workplace challenges.
Gather employer feedback to support continuous improvement of WBL activities.
Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and cross-program collaboration and work collaboratively with all members of the employment team.
Prepare reports on placement completion, and participant success stories.
Contribute to continuous improvement of practicum processes and employer engagement strategies.
What This Job Requires:
Diploma or degree in Human Services, Career Development, Adult Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in job coaching, mentoring, workforce development or employer relations.
Experience serving diverse, multicultural, and underrepresented populations in workforce development and employment services.
Experience coordinating work-based learning, practicum placements, or internships.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information with professionalism and discretion.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, Intervention Record Check and/ or summary of driving record are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.

Combination of employer site visits, community outreach and office-based work.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required depending on employer schedules.
A current and satisfactory driver's abstract (issued within the last 6 months)
