Nature & scope
The Life Inspired Coordinator brings energy, creativity, and curiosity to daily life in our community. Working alongside the Life Inspired Director, you’ll help design and lead a lively calendar of programs that keep residents engaged — art workshops, history and culture talks, music, games, guest discussions, and special events. Our residents are lifelong learners with rich stories and wide-ranging interests, and this role is about meeting them there: sparking conversation, sharing something you’re passionate about, and building real connections.
You’ll help plan and carry out both group and one-on-one activities that support residents socially, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually — including programming in Memory Care for communities that offer it. Along the way, you’ll build warm, positive relationships with residents, their families, fellow staff, and partners throughout the surrounding area.

The Activity Assistant will support community member’s quality of life by executing daily activities with community members as a group, or on an individual basis. The Activity Assistant will assist the Activity Director design and execute plans, programs and events that meet the required needs of the community members such as socially, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The Activity Assistant will build and maintain positive working relationships with all community members, community member’s families, staff members and throughout the geographic area the community serves. Minimum eligibility requirements
Strong, engaging communication skills — written and verbal — with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public, including comfort presenting to and leading groups. Genuine enthusiasm for connecting with older adults and an appreciation for what they bring. Creativity and initiative to design, organize, and lead a varied schedule of enriching programs for adults of all interests and abilities — from those who are highly active to those experiencing cognitive changes related to Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Backgrounds in the arts, humanities, education, hospitality, or event planning are a great fit. Exceptional organizational skills. Works well both independently and as part of a team. Honest, fair, and dependable, with respect for confidentiality and the privacy of others. Willingness to practice and promote Meridian’s Mission Statement, Core Values, Founding Principles, and Policies and Procedures. Ability to lead, guide, train, and support volunteers and peers. Ability to represent the community in a positive and professional manner. Ability to complete and maintain applicable state dementia-specific training. Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain. Meets all health requirements. Valid driver’s license without restrictions. Passes a criminal background check. Able to perform the duties and responsibilities (essential job functions) of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation. Basic computer skills.
Essential functions
Design and lead engaging programs — such as art workshops, history or culture presentations, discussions, music, and games — that appeal to a curious, engaged community. Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of quality activities in accordance with Life Inspired standards. Bring warmth and hospitality to every interaction; welcome new community members and their families and help them feel at home. Create and maintain positive relationships with community members and their families. Generate genuine enthusiasm to encourage and motivate participation. Collaborate with departmental and community-based peers to keep programming fresh and high quality. Help prepare and distribute activity calendars and communication materials, and keep activity/orientation boards current. Assist with community members’ special events, outings, birthdays, anniversaries, and more. Recruit, guide, and support high-quality volunteers. Lead by example and maintain ethical standards and professional conduct in line with Meridian Senior Living values. Operate the community vehicle and follow resident transportation safety procedures.
