Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division (“IBD”) provides industry, regional, and product expertise to corporations, institutions, and government clients to develop and execute innovative, customized solutions to the most challenging strategic and financing issues in the global marketplace. IBD is comprised of a number of industry and country coverage groups that work closely with product teams in Mergers & Acquisitions, Global Capital Markets, and other groups throughout the Firm to provide relevant market insight, product creativity, and execution expertise to clients. These solutions include mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings; initial public offerings; public and private equity and equity‑linked financings; defense advisory assignments; strategic partnerships; public and private debt placements; share repurchases; and hedging, swaps, and derivative transactions.
Morgan Stanley’s Canada investment banking team (“Morgan Stanley Canada”) covers clients with a Canadian nexus across diverse industries and products, providing industry coverage and execution for a wide range of clients. Morgan Stanley has a longstanding franchise in Canada, with approximately 50 years of uninterrupted presence, and is consistently involved in sector-leading transactions.
We are seeking an Investment Banking Associate with strong investment banking experience to join Morgan Stanley Canada. This role would be based in our Toronto office and will offer diversified coverage across a variety of industries. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with global and Canadian corporate clients on a wide range of complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions and equity / debt financing transactions. This role would require strong collaboration with professionals throughout the global firm to deliver high quality advice and execution to our clients.
Qualifications:
1 – 2 years of experience within the investment banking industry as an Associate, or 3 – 4 years of experience as an Analyst and Associate
Experience working on M&A and equity / debt financing transactions
Strong modeling and communication skills; commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
An extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interest in developing a career in Investment Banking
Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA, CA and/or CFA designation would be an asset
