Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Engineer with experience managing the financial and cost reporting aspects of large-scale construction projects or programs. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success leading teams and delivering cost management solutions on complex capital projects.
This role will support a major capital program based in Houston, Texas, providing cost engineering, forecasting, financial reporting, and project controls support across large-scale EPC projects. The successful candidate will partner closely with project leadership and key stakeholders to drive effective cost performance and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the development and implementation of cost reporting strategies for major construction projects.
Providing specialist technical cost engineering advice to private sector clients across a variety of construction contracts.
Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
Monitoring project costs and ensuring they align with the approved budget.
Conducting financial analysis and reporting on project performance.
Supporting project billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards, and industry best practices (AACE).
Building positive relationships within the project team and with client personnel and their key advisors.
Managing and updating internal financial trackers and supporting the financial capability of the project services function.
Supporting the delivery of both team and wider business targets.
Supporting data visualization and reporting via digital dashboard and automation tools.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role and are to be adhered to where applicable.
Project/Program specific responsibilities:
Market sector experience: Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Utilities, or other heavy industrial sectors required.
Demonstrated experience supporting projects or programs valued at $1B+.
Experience with SAP, EcoSys, Power BI, and Power Automate required.
AACE membership or certification, or similar professional credentials, preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in project cost engineering or cost management, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
Working knowledge of financial management systems and project controls software.
Experience managing project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, and financial performance, preferably within an EPC environment.
Experience implementing financial strategies, including risk identification, quantification, and allocation.
Proven ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and develop robust financial reporting and documentation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
