About The Company
Uptime Industrial is a leading provider of full-service industrial and commercial equipment repair, upgrades, installation and relocation across North America. As a service provider, our mission is simple - to keep our clients’ businesses running – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Our recent growth and continued success stems not only from being highly trained experts in our craft, but also from our most important values: integrity and innovation. These values are a big part of who we are and how we work. We are committed to always doing the right thing for the job, for our customer and most importantly, for our people and each other. About The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects by reviewing project specifications, drawings, site conditions, and customer requirements. This role also develops estimates for special projects where drawings may not be available, requiring site visits, field measurements, and information gathered directly from customers to define scope and pricing. The Electrical Estimator supports accurate budgeting and pricing efforts while building strong vendor relationships to secure competitive and reliable pricing.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare estimates and quotations for industrial electrical projects, including special projects where no drawings are available and pricing must be developed from site observations, measurements, and customer requirements;
Conduct site visits to gather project information, take measurements, photos, and notes, and assess existing electrical systems;
Develop detailed electrical scope of work documents and obtain customer approval to ensure project requirements and expectations are aligned;
Work closely with project managers, operations teams, and estimators to support electrical upgrade, maintenance, and design-build projects;
Determine when engineering support is required and coordinate with internal or external electrical engineering resources as needed;
Collaborate with electrical designers and engineers to obtain specifications, drawings, and technical information required for project costing;
Prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial electrical projects, including power distribution, lighting, controls, conduit, wiring, and equipment installations;
Request, review, and compare pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to develop competitive and reliable project estimates;
Compile electrical scope, pricing, assumptions, and supporting documentation for proposal and RFQ submissions;
Develop preliminary Bills of Materials (BOMs), Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs), and project handoff documentation for awarded work;
Support the pricing and preparation of change orders and scope revisions throughout the project lifecycle;
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and industry partners to support accurate estimating and cost planning.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate is a skilled Electrical Estimator with experience in commercial and industrial environments. You are a self-starter who takes initiative, manages competing priorities effectively, and delivers accurate, timely estimates. You are comfortable working with incomplete information and can confidently assess site conditions, identify project requirements, and develop practical pricing solutions, including for projects where drawings may not be available. You possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and applicable codes, along with the ability to build productive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Highly organized and detail-oriented, you exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, and approach challenges with a positive, solutions-focused mindset. You are committed to safety, quality, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Our Must Haves
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in electrical estimating for commercial and industrial construction projects, with demonstrated involvement in projects valued from approximately $50,000 to $2 million;
Ability to develop quotations for service work, tenant improvements, and special projects based on site visits, customer requirements, and field conditions, including opportunities where formal drawings or specifications are not available;
Working knowledge of public-sector and private-sector procurement processes, including bid submissions, tender documentation, contractual terms, and compliance requirements;
Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification is an asset;
Experience using estimating software, particularly Accubid, is beneficial;
Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams;
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
