Full job description
Bully Pulpit International is an outcomes agency made up of strategists, data scientists, and artists. We come from politics, brands, and government and we communicate without barriers and measure what matters. We have more than 350 team members in six countries and thirteen offices — Berlin, Brussels, Chicago, D.C., London, Los Angeles, New York, Oslo, San Francisco, and Zürich. We apply our unique expertise across strategic communications, public affairs, research, and digital marketing to create sophisticated and customized strategies that make change possible for both American and European clients.
The Impact You Will Make
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and driving effective, modern and strategic public affairs and corporate reputation marketing campaigns. You’ll lead client engagements in whole or in part. You will help drive the strategic point of view for clients, guide a team and independently produce new ideas and proactively build new relationships on behalf of the agency.
Location: Expectation to work from DC or NYC offices at least 3 days a week
What the Day-to-Day Looks Like
Campaign Management – You will be responsible for driving the strategy and implementation of integrated awareness and persuasion campaigns across brand reputation and policy-shaping efforts. You will be expected to interpret research findings, create a strategic approach and then partner with targeting experts, creative, media planners and others to write a sophisticated, integrated campaign plan using paid, earned and owned tactics.
Digital Paid Advertising – Leading ad strategists, media planners and buyers, marketing analytics and other specialists to deliver excellence for your clients, you will oversee the development of messaging and digital content for marketing campaigns, as well as review and guide a wide range of deliverables from reports and memos to presentations to social and digital advertising assets.
Client & Account Management – You will be responsible for driving the strategy, deepening the trust of your clients and supporting BPI’s Partners and Executive Leadership team on a variety of accounts. You will serve as the main point of contact and oversee the daily management, communication and execution of services for the client, which often include senior management or executive level decision-makers.
Team Management & Communication – You will be responsible for developing members on your team in their fields of expertise and building them to become the next leaders in the agency. You will coach and mentor your team’s performance and manage their quality of work to ensure they are efficient and effective in meeting client deliverables. You will work collaboratively and communicate with internal, cross office and cross department team members to ensure timelines and quality expectations for client deliverables are met.
New Business Efforts– You will work with agency partners and other senior leaders to develop and pitch new business opportunities. You are capable of managing the agency’s existing clients and establishing new client relationships. In support of new business opportunities, you are comfortable drafting proposals and producing materials for client pitches with minimal direction and oversight from agency Partners.
What You Bring
10+ years of experience across public affairs, brand management and paid digital marketing
Proven track record of working on complex client accounts (or related issues) and delivering successful advocacy and media campaigns
Comfort in presenting and briefing everyone from F100 C-Suite leaders to 30 cross-functional colleagues at every level
Deep knowledge of cross-channel marketing, with the ability to think analytically about a problem
Operate with a high level of organization and precision—managing scopes, budgets, reporting, and team delivery with excellence, all while leading multiple workstreams simultaneously
Ability to mobilize fast-paced, highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
Exceptional presentation, writing and analytical skills and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight timelines
Stay immersed in policy conversation, competitive trends, and the media landscape to fuel real-time relevance and creative storytelling
Experience managing large teams with multiple layers, providing clear feedback to team members and driving professional growth at every level
Comfortable handling strategic planning and daily execution of services for clients
A fast learner who can quickly get up to speed on any public affairs topic
BPI offers a wide range of benefits to U.S.-based employees, including 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) program with employer match up to 4%, generous time off for vacation, $50 monthly phone reimbursement, unlimited sick time, and 16 weeks of paid leave for new parents. BPI’s benefits prioritize employee wellness and progressive support to our diverse workforce.
We’re looking for all kinds of people.
BPI Group is an integrated public affairs agency that delivers outcomes for the top organizations and leaders around the world. With expertise in strategic communications, digital marketing, creative, research, and measurement, we offer a cohesive approach across corporate, policy, and public affairs strategy in today’s interconnected world. By combining incisive strategy and deep tactical expertise, we make change possible. Our transatlantic presence includes offices across eleven markets in the US and Europe.
We are an equal opportunity employer and make employment decisions based on individual commitment to excellence. We want to have the best qualified people in every job. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion or religious creed, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, status as a protected veteran, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information or characteristics (or those of a family member) or any other consideration made unlawful by applicable federal, state or local laws. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
BPI is dedicated to building an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplace that fosters a sense of belonging – so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to still consider submitting an application. We consider applications holistically and you may be just the right candidate for this role or another one of our openings!

Bully Pulpit International (BPI) is an outcomes agency at the intersection of business, politics, and policy.
Born in politics and founded by leaders of the Obama campaign, we apply our unique expertise from these experiences to create sophisticated and customized strategies for companies, causes and candidates.
Our clients include established market leaders, new economy firms, philanthropists, CEOs, and elected officials. What these varied brands share in common is the growing need to establish differentiated and lasting bonds with their consumers in a world of fragmented media, deep skepticism, and rapidly changing culture.
Reputation has never been more relevant to business ROI, and in our view requires consumers to believe — not only in what a brand is saying, but also in why. We combine proprietary technology and deeper insights to build believers with the speed and agility that today’s market requires.
At Bully Pulpit International, we make change possible. To us, this is more than a commitment—it's a passion. Because we truly believe in the work we do.
