Full job description
Avoq is seeking a highly motivated, career-oriented Insights Fellow to analyze and apply market research, data, and analytics in a wide range of career paths and professional settings, including public affairs, government, business, advocacy, or communications. Armed with a state-of-the-art suite of data tools and technology, Avoq’s Insights team is our engine for industry-leading innovation and actionable research that informs data-driven, best-in-class strategies for our clients.
WHO YOU ARE
Data Detective – you will support research into trending news coverage, social media conversations, influencers, public policy and public opinion to inform a wide array of strategic communications and marketing objectives across a diverse range of sectors and client-impacting situations.
Tools and Tech Maven – In this role you will rely on Avoq’s suite of advanced data tools to track issues across different sectors and geographies. Applicants should have an interest in building a skillset in areas like social listening, media intelligence, legislative and policy tracking, and market research.
Storyteller – Data needs to tell a story. You will work with insights team colleagues to synthesize your findings into compelling actionable recommendations, reports and presentations.
Collaborator – Members of the insights team are constantly collaborating with Avoq public affairs teams, clients and stakeholders on a variety of policy issues and client challenges. These could be short or long-term projects. You will bring a can-do attitude and an openness learning about client initiatives as well as receiving feedback to your work to help deliver best-in-class results.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Learn Avoq’s data and insights tools, discovering and sharing creative ways to evaluate client-impacting trends and situations involving news, social media, advertising, public policy, and communications.
Support client teams and new business initiatives through the integration of unique data insights.
Work on a diverse range of clients spanning the public, nonprofit, and corporate sectors — including national advocacy campaigns, state ballot and legislative efforts, and corporate initiatives on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and innovative start-ups.
Assist in the development of Avoq thought leadership, including white papers, webinars, and earned media placements.
Research issues, people, and organizations relevant to client initiatives involving public policy, business, media, and politics.
The Fellow Program typically runs for six months with the possibility to extend beyond the initial timeframe. Trainees may be eligible for promotion depending on the quality of their work and department availability.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
As an exceptional candidate, you possess many of the following attributes:
Relevant experience, education, or interest in data analytics, research, advertising, communications, or media
Passionate and curious about policy, media, and business issues
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency and comfort with Excel and PowerPoint
Have a proven ability to work quickly and decisively to meet deadlines, troubleshoot and manage multiple projects at once
Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
Maintain high level of professionalism with clients and co-workers
Candidates need not possess every attribute listed above to qualify for a role. If you identify with this profile but don’t quite meet all of the criteria we strongly encourage you to apply to joining our winning team!
Avōq prides itself on the kind of innovation that is only achieved through inclusive collaboration and equal opportunity. Maintaining a diverse staff of first-class talent (including those from BIPOC, LGBTQ communities, and others from historically underrepresented groups), and conferring a sense of value and belonging on each team member is central to our mission as expert communicators and advocates.
The salary for this role is $39,000 per year
100% Company-paid Medical, Dental and Vision insurance
Paid parental leave
401(k) contributions
Flexible, hybrid work arrangements (4 days in office)
12 paid company holidays per year, up to 39 days individual paid time off
