Build What Moves Aviation Forward as Civil Site Engineer – Aviation — Deliver Smart, Resilient Airport Solutions
Are you eager to advance your engineering career while contributing to projects that keep airports running safely and seamlessly? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative setting where your designs influence how aviation environments operate—from airfields and terminals to critical support systems?
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Civil Site Engineer – Aviation to join our Aviation Team in Coral Springs, FL or Miami, FL. In this role, you’ll play a key part in the design and development of airside and landside projects, partnering with experienced professionals to deliver innovative, integrated solutions that elevate safety and efficiency. This is your opportunity to grow your technical capabilities while contributing to infrastructure that connects communities and powers travel.
Civil site engineers are encouraged to apply. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in land development, municipal engineering, transportation, roadway, and other civil infrastructure disciplines who are interested in applying their expertise to aviation projects. Previous aviation experience is preferred but not required.
What You'll Do:
Support the design of civil engineering projects from concept through construction under the guidance of experienced engineers
Assist with developing preliminary site layouts, grading, drainage, utility, pavement, and infrastructure designs while preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, and specifications
Participate in the design of aviation infrastructure projects, including airfields, terminals, roadways, parking areas, and support facilities
Assist with engineering analyses and support identifying and resolving technical issues while ensuring designs align with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in field visits and construction observations to gain practical project experience
Develop familiarity with FAA, state, and local aviation design standards and assist in applying regulatory requirements
Perform periodic field observations during construction to document project progress, verify work generally conforms to design plans and specifications, review erosion and sediment control measures, and communicate observations to the project team
Support construction administration activities by preparing field reports, documenting site conditions with photographs, attending progress meetings, tracking installed quantities, and coordinating with contractors, clients, and project managers throughout construction
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
Minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience in site development, land development, transportation, municipal infrastructure, water resources, aviation, or a related discipline required
Familiarity with grading, drainage, utility, roadway, pavement, or site design principles
Strong theoretical knowledge and willingness to learn within the engineering discipline
Strong knowledge of engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.)
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Desire to learn aviation engineering and work on complex infrastructure projects
Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
Why You'll Love It Here:
Gain exposure to a diverse mix of aviation projects, helping shape the infrastructure that keeps airports operating safely, efficiently, and seamlessly
Collaborate with engineers, planners, and technical specialists to deliver solutions spanning airfield improvements, terminal developments, landside enhancements, and critical support facilities
Expand your expertise through meaningful project experience while contributing to airport environments that improve operational performance, strengthen safety, and elevate the traveler experience
