Full job description
MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.
We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.
We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.
Position Overview:
The Manager, Finance Transformation supports the execution of the Company’s finance transformation initiatives, with a focus on day-to-day program delivery, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination across Accounting and Finance. This role works closely with Accounting/Finance teams and business stakeholders to help implement scalable processes and ensure successful execution of transformation efforts.
This role is responsible for translating defined initiatives into detailed work plans, coordinating activities across stakeholders, monitoring progress, and supporting issue resolution to drive timely delivery. The Manager operates as a hands-on contributor and project lead, ensuring that transformation initiatives are effectively executed and aligned with business objectives and public company requirements.
The Manager reports to the Director, Finance Transformation and plays a key role in advancing the Company’s finance transformation roadmap through disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities:
Support execution of finance transformation initiatives, ensuring delivery against defined timelines, milestones, and business objectives
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including tracking of tasks, dependencies, and key deliverables across initiatives
Coordinate across Accounting/Finance, IT, Supply Chain and business stakeholders to facilitate execution and ensure alignment across workstreams
Monitor progress across initiatives, proactively identifying risks, issues, and delays, and supporting timely resolution and escalation as needed
Assist in the design, documentation, and implementation of standardized finance processes to improve efficiency and scalability
Support efforts to ensure transformation initiatives align with financial reporting requirements, internal controls, and audit expectations
Prepare and maintain reporting on project status, milestones, risks, and outcomes for review by senior leadership
Facilitate meetings, track action items, and follow up with stakeholders to ensure progress and accountability
Support change management activities, including communication, training coordination, and transition to steady-state operations
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, tools, and workflows
Other duties, as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA strongly preferred
5+ years of experience in accounting, finance operations, and/or project-based roles supporting process improvement or transformation
Experience working on cross-functional initiatives within a complex organization
Working knowledge of financial reporting processes, close cycles, and operational finance workflows
Exposure to public company environments, including SOX controls and audit requirements
Strong organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail and follow-through
Desired Qualities:
Strong execution mindset with the ability to manage detailed workplans and follow through on deliverables
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Accounting/Finance, IT, Supply Chain and business teams
Problem-solving orientation with the ability to identify issues and contribute to practical solutions
Collaborative team player with a focus on accountability and results
Experience in a manufacturing or operationally complex environment preferred

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is America’s only fully-integrated rare earth producer with capabilities spanning the entire supply chain—from mining and processing to advanced metallization, magnet manufacturing and recycling. MP Materials currently operates the world’s second-largest rare earth mine in Mountain Pass, California – one of the world’s richest rare earth deposits – where it extracts, refines, and separates rare earth materials. The Company also manufactures the world’s strongest and most efficient permanent magnets at its Independence magnetics facility in Texas.
MP Materials is extending its downstream capabilities through its transformational public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of War to dramatically accelerate the build-out of an end-to-end U.S. rare earth magnet supply chain at scale and reduce foreign dependency. MP Materials will soon begin construction of the Company’s second magnet manufacturing facility in the United States, 10X. MP’s flagship customers include Apple, General Motors, and the U.S. Department of War.
