Position Summary
The Regional Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, compliant, and profitable management of multiple operational locations within an assigned territory. This role provides leadership and strategic direction to Area Managers, local operations teams, depack processing units, and remotely domiciled drivers. The Regional Operations Manager is accountable for safety performance, regulatory compliance, customer service, asset utilization, operational efficiency, and regional financial results.
The successful candidate will foster a culture of safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while supporting company growth and profitability objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Lead, coach, develop, and supervise Area Managers, local operations personnel, and drivers throughout the assigned region.
Promote and maintain a culture focused on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Establish performance expectations and evaluate employee performance through regular coaching and feedback.
Recognize achievements and administer corrective actions when necessary.
Ensure compliance with company policies and partner with Human Resources on employee relations and disciplinary matters.
Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, workforce planning, and employee retention initiatives.
Maintain accountability for regional profit and loss performance and implement corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to support customer retention, business development, and service growth opportunities.
Oversee regional asset management, utilization, tracking, and replacement planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Develop, implement, and execute regional operating strategies that support safety, service excellence, compliance, efficiency, and profitability.
Adjust operational plans and daily activities as necessary to meet performance targets and business objectives.
Oversee multiple operating locations and ensure consistency in execution, standards, and performance.
Monitor key performance indicators and utilize operational data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure adequate staffing levels, workforce scheduling, and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
Financial Management
Manage regional revenue, operating expenses, labor costs, maintenance expenses, vendor spending, and other financial performance metrics.
Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, improve efficiencies, and increase profitability.
Develop and maintain reporting systems that accurately track operational and financial performance.
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning activities.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental regulations, local operating requirements, and company policies.
Partner with Environmental Managers to maintain regulatory compliance across all locations.
Promote a proactive safety culture by ensuring participation in safety meetings, training programs, inspections, and corrective action initiatives.
Investigate and address safety incidents, regulatory concerns, and operational risks.
Ensure required operational reports, safety documentation, inspections, and compliance records are completed accurately and on time.
Fleet and Asset Management
Oversee the safe and efficient operation of trucks, trailers, processing equipment, and other company assets.
Ensure preventive maintenance programs are executed and equipment downtime is minimized.
Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and company property.
Ensure all operating locations maintain a clean, safe, professional, and compliant appearance.
Manage regional property-related matters, including vendor services, lease requirements, and landlord relationships.
People Leadership
Recruit, hire, train, and develop high-performing team members in partnership with Human Resources.
Clearly communicate performance expectations and ensure employees receive required safety and operational training.
Hold Area Managers, supervisors, drivers, and operations personnel accountable for safety, service, productivity, and compliance expectations.
Foster employee engagement, teamwork, and professional development throughout the region.
Customer and Vendor Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulatory agencies, landlords, vendors, and community stakeholders.
Address customer concerns and operational issues promptly and professionally.
Manage vendor and service-provider relationships to ensure cost-effective and efficient support of operations.
Support customer retention, service expansion, and strategic growth initiatives within the region.
Additional Responsibilities
Report significant operational, safety, equipment, property, or compliance concerns to senior leadership promptly.
Maintain a professional appearance and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
