The lifeguard and swim instructor is responsible for ensuring the safety of pool members and guests while providing professional swimming instruction. They act as first responders in emergencies and perform routine pool maintenance as required.
Candidates must hold valid Lifesaving Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and CPR C/AED certifications. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and legally eligible to work in Canada.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the safety and instruction of Members and Guests using the pool at the JCC
First responder in case of an emergency and providing First Aid as needed throughout the facility
Passion for teaching swimming lessons and working with children and adults
Perform maintenance and related work, as required
Flexible schedule. Regular part-time hours are available. Most shifts will include a mix of instruction and lifeguarding duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Lifesaving Swim Instructor
National Lifeguard (NL Pool Option)
Standard First Aid (within 2 years)
CPR C / AED (within 1 year)
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Over the age of 16
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a lifeguard, instructor or coach
Previous experience working with children & youth
Previous experience as a First Aid Attendant
LSI, Aquafit and/or other relevant certifications
