Full job description
The Central Investigations team is dedicated to keeping users of Meta technologies safe. We pride ourselves in helping prevent harm by applying deep subject matter expertise to identify and mitigate potential safety-related threats to keep Meta and its users more secure. Our team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced investigator who will have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging, high-visibility risks the company faces and the opportunity to have a substantial impact.
We are seeking an investigator with experience in understanding and mitigating child safety issues, as well as networks that may look to facilitate the coordination of harm against minors and vulnerable populations. In addition to having a demonstrated investigative and analytical background, we are seeking an investigator who has experience making risk-based decisions and who is passionate about protecting people. The successful candidate will be able to assess and analyze large amounts of data in order to identify sources of potential threats and abuses, operate independently in a fast-paced environment, and proactively collaborate with teams across the company.
Responsibilities
Investigate complex cases and conduct deep analysis of potential threats to minors, primarily surrounding child sexual exploitation, that may manifest on Meta technologies
Investigate potential safety issues involving minors and how they impact Meta, our products and our communities, with a focus on understanding how bad actors may try to target minors and vulnerable populations
Independently manage concurrent analyses, prioritizing based on threat severity, impact, and deadlines
Identify sources of abusive behavior, quickly and accurately assessing the credibility of potential threats in order to mitigate risk of harm
Work cross-functionally with other analytic and investigative teams across the company, including collaborating with Policy, Engineering and Integrity partners to improve the detection of behavior that violates our Community Standards
Gather, analyze, and synthesize relevant data to identify potential abuse
Work with graphic and sensitive content on a regular basis
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Ability to work independently under high pressure situations and make sound decisions with little to no supervision
8+ years of professional experience in investigations or analysis in law enforcement, security, risk, or safety domains
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent analytical and investigative skills combined with the ability to quickly assess large amounts of data in order to detect critical and credible information
BA/BS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent
Subject matter knowledge on child safety issues, especially pertaining to various social media platforms, analytical tools, and online research tools
Experience working with sensitive issues that include graphic violence, graphic content and/or CSAM
Experience and inclination to protect highly confidential information
Investigative or analytical experience related to online harms against children and vulnerable populations
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in languages other than English, as the role may involve reviewing content or collaborating with teams in non-English-speaking regions
Experience conducting open source investigations and/or investigations on behalf of a technology company
Experience conducting child safety investigations, or similar, on behalf of a technology company
Experience working with a team spanning multiple locations/time zones
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data analytics programming coding languages and data visualization tools
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
$141,000/year to $199,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
