The Position
The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a Graphic Design Associate to deliver our brand and advocacy work to the public. In today’s every-changing media environment, visual design is a key element of educating audiences about our work, moving the public and our donors to action, and communicating the felt impact of NWLC’s law, policy, and culture-change efforts.
This is a full-time, exempt role of 37.5 hours per week.
The Organization
The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) fights for gender justice — in the courts, in public policy, and in our society — working across the issues that are central to the lives of women and girls.

Responsibilities
At the direction of the Director of Multi-Media Design, design print and digital materials including one-pagers, infographics, event collateral, slide decks, and social graphics for NWLC's platforms.
Conceptualize and produce video content and light motion graphics for NWLC's YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other channels as needed.
Maintain and evolve NWLC's brand standards and visual identity across all channels and materials.
Manage and organize inbound design requests, andmaintain a detailed production and content calendar to keep design deliverables organized and timely.
Facilitate and obtain needed approvals by presenting final layouts, storyboards, mood boards, wireframes, and illustrations; respond to feedback and requests.
Support Creative and Digital Strategies unit with posting and scheduling of content across NWLC's digital channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
Clip and caption video during key NWLC news moments and support rapid-response design and content needs during breaking news or advocacy campaigns.
Assist with email and SMS marketing design and asset production via platforms like EveryAction and Mobile Commons
Support website updates and graphic asset uploads via WordPress
Contribute to content decisions for design and video channels, working with Communications staff and program teams to determine the best way to package and present information to NWLC's audiences.
Partner with program, development, and policy staff to translate complex, technical work into accessible, visually engaging public-facing content, including but not limited to design for donor-facing events, issue advocacy-focused fact sheets and reports, etc.
Organize and maintain NWLC's video and photo library, and maintain organized design asset files.
Source materials for and work with external video producers and designers as needed.
Collaborate with all members of the Creative Team on design and content strategy
Maintain NWLC’s merchandise tracker and assist with conceptualizing new products and design for our merch shop.
Support other miscellaneous digital, design, and events team tasks as needed.
Qualifications
A candidate must possess:
Fluency in design editing programs.
Experience in the digital communications field, preferably in mission-driven and rapid response organizations like NWLC.
A strong eye for detail and a thoughtful, analytical approach to managing complex tasks.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to act quickly and effectively in breaking news environments.
Demonstrated commitment to working on gender and racial justice and centering communities of color.
Additional preferred skills and knowledge:
Ability to pick up new technology and platforms.
An interest in social media and willingness to trend-spot and experiment.
Demonstrated experience and judgment working both collaboratively and independently.
Key Relationships
This role will report to the Director of Multimedia Design, in the Campaigns and Communications Department, and work closely with all members of the Content and Creative Team.
Compensation & Benefits
A salary within the range of $69,264-79,348 will be provided to the successful candidate, consistent with the National Women’s Law Center’s compensation framework. The successful candidate’s salary within this range will be determined by the number years of relevant experience they bring to the role.
NWLC is a nonprofit organization whose headquarters and staff are based in Washington, D.C. at our new office at 1350 Eye Street N.W. This role is based in D.C. and will be eligible for some telework while also being expected to work in person on a regular basis. The successful candidate will need to live in or relocated to the DMV (broadly defined as DC, Maryland, or Virginia).
The first 90 days of employment will be considered a probationary period.
Classification
NWLC recognizes a staff bargaining unit, NWLC United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in NWLC’s bargaining unit. Specific employment terms are subject to collective bargaining.
