The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of food service areas, including dishwashing and equipment sanitation. They also assist with meal distribution, food preparation, and the proper storage and labeling of deliveries.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of experience as a kitchen assistant or dishwasher. An active food handler's certification from the City of New York is required.

Under the supervision of the Food Service Manager and or Cook #2, the Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for assisting with distribution, service and clean-up of the meal program.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the cleaning (e.g., mopping and sweeping) of the food service areas, which includes equipment, kitchen, storage, and dining area.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to climb stairs and lift at least 25lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
