Responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure systems operate in a secure, reliable, and efficient ecosystem and for recommending strategy where technology impacts efficiency, risk, and service delivery. The role owns and defines the technology strategy and project management for infrastructure, cybersecurity, communications platforms, and systems architecture (network, servers, backups, email, internet, telephony) as well as the teams, vendors, and processes needed to sustain a well-performing, integrated technology infrastructure landscape. At the Masons of California, different departments own their business and software platforms and applications (for example, HR owns the HR Management System). The role supports approximately 500 employees, 450 senior living residents across our campuses, and 150 remote volunteers, ensuring that technology remains stable, user-centered, cost-effective, and strategically aligned with organizational needs. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the Masonic Homes of California and is based in Union City, California.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the enterprise technology environment, ensuring security, reliability, and optimal performance across all systems.
Manage a technology budget of approximately $2.3 million (including $1.4M labor and $900K non-labor) with responsibility for forecasting, cost control, prioritization, and resource allocation.
Ensure resilient and well-performing networks, servers, backup systems, email platforms, internet connectivity, cloud services, and telephone systems.
Establish and maintain policies, standards, and best practices for system security, uptime, data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
Develop and implement an organization-wide technology asset replacement strategy that proactively schedules equipment refreshed based on lifecycle, manufacturer support, cybersecurity risk, operational performance, and budget availability.
2.Vendor and Service Provider Oversight
Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, and partners.
Lead vendor sourcing activities, including evaluation, selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance management.
Oversee contract negotiations, renewals, and compliance monitoring, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality of service, and alignment with enterprise needs.
Manage security vendors and ensure robust cybersecurity posture across all systems.
3.Team Leadership and Development

Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities to build a high-functioning, service-oriented team.
Ensure effective staffing, role clarity, workload management, and escalation processes to support users across all business units and campuses.
4.Enterprise Systems Assessment and Integration
Serve as the enterprise-level thinker who looks across all business systems and software platforms to identify efficiencies, alignment opportunities, integration possibilities, and risks.
Evaluate how technologies, applications and software platforms used by different business owners and leaders (for example, HR and Finance management systems used by HR and Finance, respectively) can interface more effectively, reduce redundancy, and improve data flow and user experience.
Partner with leaders across departments to understand their technology strategies and ensure they align with the broader enterprise vision and architecture. Anticipate unintended consequences of system changes and work proactively to mitigate them.
5.Cybersecurity Leadership
Serve as the enterprise leader for cybersecurity strategy, risk assessment, and protective measures.
Synthesize cybersecurity reports, threat intelligence, and vulnerability findings into actionable plans for the IT team.
Direct the prioritization and implementation of controls, patches, system hardening, and remediation activities.
Ensure strong incident response, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity.
Oversee performance of cybersecurity vendors and align them to enterprise risk priorities.
Ensure technology operations supports applicable regulatory requirements such as HIPPA, Title 22, etc.
Project Management
Act as project leader for new system implementations and major system upgrades, establishing and executing a disciplined, repeatable implementation methodology.
Lead requirements gathering and needs specification, ensuring clarity on system functionality, integration requirements, data flows, and operational impact.
Facilitate vendor evaluations and selection processes, including demonstrations, scoring, and stakeholder alignment.
Guide cross-functional business teams through planning, configuration, testing, communication, and training.
Oversee deployment, go-live, stabilization, and transition to long-term operational ownership by the appropriate business leaders.
Ensure each implementation supports enterprise-wide cohesion, reduces redundancies, and enhances overall system performance.
