The Foundation’s income has grown from a fundraising base of $110,000 in its first year tomore than $57 million in 2024–approximately halfof the Institute’s total income. The remarkable success of the Foundation’s activities is having a catalytic impact on our researchers’ ability to make scientific contributions that willultimately leadto earlier diagnosis, bettertreatments and prevention or cure of a range of diseases.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Garvan manages a diverse portfolio of supporters, including major donors and corporatepartners. Reporting to the Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager, and supportingthe Philanthropy team, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Coordinator,is responsible fornurturing existing relationships and actively supporting acquisition activities to inspire majorand transformational gifts aligning with strategic goals to support research.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Thekey responsibilities include:
Relationship Management
Proactively engage and nurture relationships with current and prospectivephilanthropic and corporate partners to inspire major and transformational gifts.
Deliver meaningful partner and donor stewardship through personalisedcommunications, and acknowledgement and recognition activities to strengthenrelationships.
Coordinate partner and donor engagement activities, including events, tours, andinternal and external meetings with researchers on areas of interest.
Proactivelyidentify,proposeand execute new engagement opportunities.
Partnership program
Proactively manage agreement renewals and track all milestones within partnerengagement plans, ensuring all activities are met on time and to a high standard.
Coordinate the development of partnership-related content across digital platforms(website, intranet, e-newsletters) and print channels (annual reports, printnewsletters, event collateral).
Support the creation of high-quality grant applications, partnership agreements,contracts, pitchpresentationsand tailored proposals.
Regularly review and update partner information on the Garvan website to ensureabsolute accuracy, brandalignmentand partner recognition.
Ensure that best practice donor journeys are executed for corporate partners andworkplace giving organisations.
Support strategies to grow in-kind support and pro-bono services from corporatesupporters.
Proactively promote workplace giving and community fundraising initiatives toexisting partners to deepen staff engagement.
Monitor, analyse and regularly prepare budget reports.
Events and Tours
Plan and deliver high-end, tailored corporate partner events. Coordinatelogisticsandstakeholder involvement to create high-impact engagement opportunities.
Represent Garvan at partner and donor meetings and events asrequired.
Arrange research tours and proactively lead engagement activities to connectdonors with Garvan’s research. Contribute to the development and delivery of arange of philanthropy events, including but not limited to:
preparation of guestlists and management of event RSVPs
facilitation of guest research prior to the event;
provide day-of event support to the Events Officer;
document and evaluate event outcomes and expenditure.
Provide high-level support to the broader Philanthropy and Executive leadershipteams for VIP tours and major donor visits, including but not limited to:
Booking meeting rooms and coordinating calendar appointments
Providing meeting and tour support, including facilitating tea and coffee orders
Other responsibilities
Maintain up-to-date records in Raiser’s Edge including communications, actions,attachments, supporter information to ensure data accuracy and efficiency, bothfor the relationships you manage and to support the Corporate and PartnershipsManager.
Assistwith extracting donor data for communications, events, dataanalysisandKPI tracking.
Coordinate with other teams, as required, to ensure an effective and efficientapproach to philanthropy and partnerships processes across the organisation.
Collaborate with the Supporter Services Team to ensureoptimalsupporter careand that funding is accuratelyallocatedwhere requested.
Utilise best practice AI tools to streamline workflows, automate routineadministrative tasks and increase overall team efficiency.
Commitment to continuous improvement of processes andmaintainingup-to-daterecords of processes and procedures.
Advocate the impact of philanthropy and partnerships within Garvan ResearchFoundation by communicating stories,successesand experiences in teammeetings and on internal social channels.
Support other teams during busy periods (e.g. EOFY, volunteering at events).
Collaborate with the Finance team to complete financial administrative tasks.
Other duties asrequiredto support the wider Philanthropy Team.
Comply withGarvan’s workplace policies (as amended from time to time) andespecially Garvan’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) Policy, including workinginaccordance withthe WHS management system at all times, as safety is Garvan’snumber one priority.
ABOUT YOU
The key skills and experience include:
Tertiary qualifications in fundraising, business, marketing,communicationsor scienceand/or 2–5 years of proven experience in a related role.
A proven self-starter who takes ownership of responsibilities, proactivelyidentifiesareas forimprovementand drives solutions.
Proven experience building,nurturingand managing relationships with diverse internaland external stakeholders.
