Building on a proud legacy and shaped by bold ambition, it’s a place of excellence and equity, where our vibrant community of staff are united by our purpose to inspire Australia’s future change-makers and create a better tomorrow.
Work that matters
The School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join the Health Evidence Synthesis, Recommendations, and Impact (HESRI) team as a Research Fellow (Level A).
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, interdisciplinary research focused on generating trustworthy evidence and high-quality recommendations that inform policy, practice, and decision-making.
Our team is currently leading the development of the Australian Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Care Guidelines, while also working across a diverse portfolio of projects. Current areas of focus include pregnancy, bereavement care, and malaria, reflecting the breadth and real-world impact of our work.
In this role, you will support multiple projects, making it ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys collaboration, and is driven by meaningful impact. You will apply rigorous evidence synthesis and guideline development methodologies across a range of topic areas, while progressively developing your expertise as an emerging methodologist.
The team
This role will report to Grant-Funded Senior Research Fellow, Dr Danielle Pollock, and sit within the School of Public Health, in the College of Health. This role will have several stakeholder relationships, including the wider research team, internal and external stakeholders both nationally and internationally, as well as academic and professional staff across the University.
Our people are guided by purpose, curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning. We embrace authenticity, innovation and collaboration, and harness diverse thinking in our pursuit of excellence.
HESRI, led by Professor Zachary Munn, is a team of expert methodologists and research specialists who are internationally recognised for their expertise in guideline development, evidence synthesis and implementation. The team has extensive experience in conducting systematic and scoping reviews, as well as in implementation science, knowledge translation, consumer engagement, and the co-creation of knowledge.
We are a dynamic and collaborative team working on nationally and internationally significant projects that address complex and impactful health questions.

Proven experience contributing to the development of grant applications for competitive funding schemes and/or consultancies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information for diverse audiences. This includes leading or contributing to publications in peer-reviewed journals and preparing reports for funding bodies or stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to undertake administrative responsibilities associated with research activities, including project coordination, documentation, and compliance requirements.
Experience in guideline development (desirable).
Evidence of understanding of the issues surrounding research conduct expectations (desirable).
Experience with GRADE methods and approaches (desirable).
