Infrastructure Victoria is an independent statutory authority. We provide expert advice, conduct research and guide decision-making on Victoria’s infrastructure needs and priorities.
What we do
We help ensure infrastructure is planned and managed with transparent, independent, and expert advice. We consider the social, economic, and environmental impacts of infrastructure policies and investments. We help guide decision making and contribute to public discussion about Victoria’s future. Infrastructure Victoria has three major roles:
prepare a 30-year infrastructure strategy for Victoria.
advise the Victorian Government on infrastructure matters.
publish research on infrastructure matters.
About the role
The policy adviser will research and analyse infrastructure policy and reform opportunities to provide professional and strategic advice on infrastructure matters. They will work in a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic environment, with a collaborative and high performing workplace. As an engaged member of the research and policy team, the policy advisor will contribute to a positive and collaborative culture.
This role is a 12-month fixed term position.
Hybrid workplace: blend of on-site (Melbourne CBD) and work-from-home.
This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
Key accountabilities
In this role, you will:
Apply relevant knowledge to provide well-reasoned policy advice and analysis on infrastructure matters.
Use innovative thinking to define research and policy development methodologies, and interpret and analyse data to develop recommendations.
Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence on complex infrastructure matters that convey specialist concepts to non-expert audiences.
Consult and communicate persuasively with staff and stakeholders on specific projects.
Contribute to other projects and responsibilities as required, especially in periods of peak work demand.
Be an engaged member of the team, proactively contributing to Infrastructure Victoria’s positive workplace culture.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
You demonstrate strong policy analysis and development skills, including researching qualitative and qualitative evidence, analysing relevant data and using stakeholder engagement to formulate policy recommendations that help achieve Infrastructure Victoria’s goals.
You apply critical thinking and data analysis to formulate appropriate research and policy development methodologies to resolve a question or problem.
You demonstrate strong writing skills, and are able to use clear and concise language to produce logical, sequential and succinct written products in different formats for different audiences.
You work collaboratively and independently to deliver outcomes, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute ideas that improve quality and ways of working.
You apply critical thinking and sound judgement to resolve issues, communicate clearly with a range of people, and manage differences in views in a constructive way.
A tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to Infrastructure Victoria’s work would be highly regarded.
