Summary of Position
The Sr. Manager, Business Development occupies a high-impact, cross-functional seat that bridges early-stage discovery, early clinical development and corporate partnerships. This individual will be responsible for shaping MacroGenics’ pipeline, with an emphasis on immuno-oncology and novel antibody-based biologics.
This role serves as the operational glue for internal program execution and key asset alliances. The ideal candidate will identify strategic opportunities and drive internal product strategy (across Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory), while managing strategic relationships with external partners.
Responsibilities:
Business Development & Alliance Management
Lead teams in the creation of comprehensive development plans including identifying alternatives and scenario planning in cooperation with other functional areas.
Partner with functional areas (e.g. research, clinical, finance) to refine and build integrated program strategy.
Conduct competitive landscape analyses to inform business development priorities and decision-making.
Attend various business and scientific conferences to meet with prospective partners and to maintain understanding of current industry trends.
Develop business development communication materials and effectively present corporate overview and programmatic details to prospective collaborators.
Identify out-licensing and strategic partnering opportunities. Assess external product candidates and technology platforms which may be considered for in-licensing.
Oversee existing or new partnership alliances and participating in related governance committees.
Maintain deep operational familiarity with partnership agreements, ensuring both organizations fulfill contractual obligations, steering committee mandates, and milestone triggers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external partner counterparts. Actively monitor partnership health, proactively identify areas of friction, and facilitate conflict resolution regarding operational direction.
Product Planning
Maintain current understanding of key therapies and research approaches which are pertinent for MacroGenics’ pipeline of oncology, autoimmune, and infectious disease products.
Monitor competitor clinical data disclosures (e.g., ASCO, ESMO, AACR, PubMed), assessing their strategic impact on our pipeline. Compile intelligence from key scientific meetings and present recommendations for consideration.
Formulate Target Product Profiles (TPPs) for pipeline projects. Identify and drive commercially meaningful, sustainably differentiated candidates early in their development cycle.
Conduct primary and secondary market research to confirm hypothesis around unmet medical needs. Provide strategic guidance on novel oncology mechanisms of action, including but not limited to T-cell engagers, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), combination regimens, and I-O assets, anticipating how shifting standards of care impact market adoption.
Present synthesized market research findings and provide meaningful recommendations to inform development of current and future pipeline programs.
Deliver presentations to senior management and influence diverse sets of stakeholders, including clinical, research and finance.
