Designs, develops and implements sales programs to meet the organization's business objectives. Plans, directs and coordinates the efforts of sales staff toward the accomplishment of objectives. Responsibilities are within the sales function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of the Packaging Division, the Director of Sales for Packaging - Americas is responsible for developing the Sales vision and strategy to keep pace with rapidly changing business needs and continuously improve our customer experience, driving Leadership Level Performance according to NBS Next Commercial Excellence element and concept. This role’s primary responsibility is building and nurturing strong relationships with Sales and Marketing stakeholders to evaluate opportunities, align on priorities and drive outcomes against a common set of objectives in the North and Latin America. This role will lead the organization to define a multi-quarter roadmap for Packaging Americas Sales business platform.
- Develops and executes strategic sales plans and comprehensive programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of organization.
- Work closely with the marketing department to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of organization.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
- Resolves conflicts and facilitates changes in structure of sales group to ensure objective fulfillment and swift response to sales problems and opportunities.
- Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist sales representatives and distributors in promoting sales.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Prepares sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
- Advises sales representatives and distributors concerning sales techniques. Assists sales representatives in contract negotiations and closing of the sale.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
- Manages both the inside and outside Domestic and assigned International Sales Departments & is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Serves as a member of the Global Divisional Leadership Team and collaborates to achieve business objectives
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in relevant technical field.
- Minimum of 15 years of commercial leadership experience including direct sales volume target of at least $100M.
- Demonstrated experience in developing industry value assessments and executing on strategic business development and growth opportunities
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans
- Demonstrated negotiation, relationship management, facilitation, and decision making skills
- Critical and creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire cross-functional teams in North, Central and South America
- Must possess a high level of energy and passion for growth, a global mind-set and emotionally balanced
