Requirements
Requires extensive senior sales or business development leadership experience in professional services or technology, with a proven track record in public sector transformation. Full job description
Your Role
As a Client Director, you will lead Capgemini’s pursuit of large-scale public sector transformation opportunities in New Zealand, with an immediate focus on strategically significant national programmes, including major ERP, digital, data and business transformation initiatives. This is a senior growth role requiring a proven ability to build trusted CxO-level relationships, shape complex client-side buying agendas, and lead multi-year sales campaigns that position Capgemini as a strategic transformation partner. You will be expected to originate, qualify and progress major opportunities, influence executive stakeholders across business, digital, technology, commercial and programme leadership, and mobilise the full breadth of Capgemini’s local, regional and global capability behind high-value pursuits.
Auckland based, with a strong preference for candidates who bring established credibility and networks across New Zealand public sector agencies, national-scale transformation programmes, central government, regulated environments or other mission-critical public sector settings. Full working rights for Australia and New Zealand are required to be considered for the role.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic public sector growth leadership: Own and execute senior-level sales campaigns for large, complex transformation opportunities across major NZ public sector accounts, including ERP, digital, data, cloud, cyber, applications, business transformation and managed services.
CxO and executive stakeholder engagement: Build trusted relationships with Chief Executives, Deputy Chief Executives, CIOs, CDOs, CFOs, CPOs, programme executives and senior commercial leaders to understand strategic priorities, shape demand and influence procurement direction ethically and effectively.
Complex pursuit and capture leadership: Lead early positioning, account strategy, stakeholder mapping, win themes, qualification, competitive analysis, partner strategy, commercial strategy and bid mobilisation for major programmes with long sales cycles and high strategic value.
Client-side campaign orchestration: Demonstrate the ability to navigate formal and informal decision networks, build consensus across business and technology stakeholders, and convert insight into compelling transformation propositions aligned to public value, operational resilience and measurable outcomes.
Internal mobilisation: Rally Capgemini’s local leadership, industry experts, solution architects, delivery executives, global business lines, alliance partners and executive sponsors around priority pursuits, ensuring the right capability, investment and executive attention is applied at the right time.
Pipeline and revenue accountability: Build and maintain a qualified, forecastable pipeline of strategic public sector opportunities, with clear pursuit plans, deal governance, risk management, commercial discipline and accountability for achieving ambitious growth targets.
Market positioning: Strengthen Capgemini’s profile as a trusted transformation partner in New Zealand by bringing informed perspectives on public sector reform, ERP modernisation, digital government, sovereign capability, AI, cloud, cyber and delivery excellence.
Your Profile
Extensive senior sales, client partner, account director or business development leadership experience in professional services, technology, consulting or systems integration, with a strong track record in large public sector transformation pursuits.
Demonstrated success selling at CxO and executive level across public sector clients, including the ability to develop trusted advisory relationships and influence strategic buying decisions before formal procurement begins.
Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales campaigns involving long sales cycles, competitive positioning, formal RFP processes, governance, commercial negotiation and executive sponsorship.
Evidence of winning or materially shaping major transformation opportunities, ideally involving ERP modernisation, digital government, cloud, data, cyber, business transformation or mission-critical platforms.
Strong public sector credibility, with an understanding of government decision-making, procurement processes, probity expectations, budget cycles, risk appetite and the importance of public value outcomes.
Exceptional ability to mobilise and align internal teams in a matrixed organisation, securing commitment from delivery, solution, commercial, legal, alliance, regional and global stakeholders to support priority pursuits.
Executive presence, commercial judgement and resilience required to operate credibly with senior clients, partners and Capgemini leadership during high-pressure strategic pursuits.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape compelling sales narratives, executive briefings, proposals, win themes and board-level pursuit updates.
