Full job description
Job Description
Renesas is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Field Applications Engineering to lead strategic technical engagement with our most important AI and hyperscaler customers. This role leads a high-performance team of power supply FAEs supporting AI accelerators, servers, and networking platforms that are critical to Renesas’ long-term growth.
This is a senior player/coach position. The role balances hands-on ownership of customer power programs with leadership and development of a growing FAE organization. Success requires deep power electronics expertise, strong customer credibility, and the ability to scale technical execution across multiple strategic accounts.
Serve as the senior technical interface for strategic datacenter accounts, driving system-level power architecture engagements from early concept through production.
Provide expert leadership on digital multiphase power, power modules, and server-class power delivery architectures supporting AI accelerators, CPUs, and networking platforms.
Personally engage in the most complex customer programs, including architecture reviews, schematic and layout feedback, validation planning, bring-up, power sequencing analysis, transient response evaluation, and debug.
Rapidly troubleshoot complex power issues using lab instrumentation including oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, and transient analysis tools.
Lead technical escalations with internal engineering teams to ensure rapid, high-quality resolution of customer issues.
Deliver high-quality customer-facing materials such as validation results, program updates, technical summaries, and program closure reports.
People & Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of power supply FAEs supporting strategic AI and hyperscaler customers.
Coach FAEs on system-level power thinking, executive communication, and sound technical judgment in complex customer environments.
Build onboarding and training plans for new college graduates and early-career FAEs, ensuring readiness for lab work and customer-facing engagements.
Conduct performance reviews and support career development across the team.
Guide resource allocation across accounts, balancing customer priorities, program risk, and team bandwidth.
Establish a high-performance culture with clear standards for ownership, technical rigor, and execution quality. Hold the team accountable to outcomes and model the behaviors expected through disciplined, high-impact customer engagement.
Customer, Program & Strategy Leadership
Own technical program execution for top datacenter customers, spanning AI accelerators, server platforms, and high-performance networking systems.
Partner closely with Sales and GAM leadership to align customer priorities, program sequencing, and allocation of FAE resources.
Maintain program visibility through clear tracking of milestones, risks, validation status, and next-step actions.
Provide concise and actionable technical updates to senior leadership.
Collaborate with Product Line and Marketing teams to translate strategic customer power requirements into product feedback and roadmap influence.
Champion field insights related to next-generation power architectures, digital multiphase solutions, and module-based system power.
Coordinate technical handoffs and shared engagements across global FAE teams.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
Significant prior experience as a Field Applications Engineer with hands-on responsibility for power supply or power management products.
8+ years of experience in power electronics, digital multiphase power delivery, server or AI platform power, or related hardware systems.
Deep technical expertise in power modules, digital multiphase controllers, VRMs, and high-current, low-voltage conversion for datacenter platforms.
Strong lab-based debug skills including use of oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, and transient response analysis.
Demonstrated ability to interface directly with customers on complex power topics and drive issues to closure.
2+ years of people leadership experience in a team lead, supervisory, managerial, or equivalent player/coach role.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to customer, executive, and internal audiences.
Preferred
Experience supporting hyperscale datacenter customers such as cloud service providers or AI accelerator companies.
Expertise in system-level power architecture for AI or ML accelerators, CPUs, or high-end networking platforms.
Familiarity with PMBus, telemetry systems, and digitally controlled multiphase power solutions.
Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority programs simultaneously in fast-moving customer environments.
Demonstrated success developing early-career engineers and building high-performance technical teams.
Strong cross-functional leadership experience working with Product Line, Marketing, Sales, or Systems Engineering organizations.
