The Principal Hydraulic Engineer will lead the delivery of complex building services projects, overseeing design from concept through to construction. Responsibilities include managing client relationships, ensuring technical compliance, and mentoring junior staff to maintain high-quality project outcomes.
Candidates must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related building services discipline and possess at least 8 years of experience in hydraulic building services. Proven expertise in design consultancy, project leadership, and strong communication skills are essential for this role.
About the role
Our Perth Buildings team have won numerous exciting projects and are seeking a Principal Hydraulic Engineer to take the lead on delivering projects across various sectors.
The successful candidate will be able to apply their technical skills and demonstrate commitment in a way which ensures projects are thoroughly designed, personally reviewed and delivered on time. You will service projects including those of relatively large size, high complexity and with multiple clients.
Stantec are involved in a vast variety of project types including data centres, defence, healthcare, education etc. The successful candidate will be working in a strong team environment.
We are looking for someone with Hydraulic design experience within the building services sector.
Day to day tasks would involve:
To be successful for this role you'll need:
· Be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
· Have minimum 8 years hydraulic building services experience within the consulting or engineering industry
· Proven experience in a design consultancy environment, with a strong track record of client engagement and project leadership
· Self-management skills will be as important as your technical design and project management abilities
· Ideally be well connected/networked within the industry and able to foster client relationships
· Technically very strong in terms of understanding the key elements of the design and construction associated with Hydraulic Engineering works.
· Ability to multitask and deliver high profile projects in a timely manner
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
