This team is the backbone of our Global Markets business (one of the largest of its kind in the world) and combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets and specialises in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.

Markets Operations is responsible for driving every part of the trade lifecycle post-execution. This team manages settlement activity, risk and control, adherence to regulatory compliance, and seamless operational client service across 58 countries and territories.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Assistant Manager Markets Operations (Fixed Income Operations)

Role Purpose

Supervise, manage and control the processing and settlement of Markets Activities (covering 3 entities, ie HBMY, HBMS & HSBI) by ensuring that all deals transacted in the dealing room are efficiently processed, accurately recorded, checked and settled in accordance with local and Group Treasury guidelines, policies and standard.  To maintain HSBC internal control standards and manage operational risk, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in line with internal guidelines.  Responsible for setting up new products control procedures with the aim of providing optimum service and minimise operational risk.

Principal Responsibility

• Supervises the operations of the section by providing a high standard of service. 
• Contributes towards the day-to-day effectiveness and efficiency of the Bank's Global Markets activities.  
• Contributes to the Bank’s status and image
• Maintains good customer service levels
• Manage customer complaints
• Manage Settlement Process with timely escalation on any exceptions.
• Contribute to Global Markets ability to expand its business
• Contributes to the development and performance of staff
• Upheld HSBC Value and Speak Up culture.
• Minimise the risk of losses through fraud and error.
• Safeguards the Bank’s interest
• Upkeep the team’s Compliance awareness
• Responsible for Record Management

Requirement

• A degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related business discipline
• At least 5 years working experience in Global Markets Operations or related field with below traits
• Sound knowledge of Foreign Exchange rules,  well versed with the settlement mechanism and complex rules in,, MyClear , Securities Commission, Shariah Principles and  Exchange Controls
• Good communication skill , able to articulate well with stakeholders and external customers, understand their issues and requirements and deliver on timely manner
• Sound knowledge of systems, processes, controls, KYC, AML under the umbrella of Global Standards
• Sound knowledge on local regulatory reporting requirements.
