The Merchant Assistant supports buyers by managing end-to-end business processes including SKU creation, purchase order maintenance, and supplier coordination. They also act as a project manager to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining accurate departmental trackers and supporting cross-functional meetings.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a college degree and retail experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with strong communication, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities.
The Merchant Assistant provides support to our buyers in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. As a Merchant Assistant you will function as a liaison between buyers and internal and external business partners. The ideal Merchant Assistant is resourceful, a problem solver, well organized, a good communicator, and a team player. You are responsible for key steps in our end-to-end business processes which include, but are not limited to supplier set up, SKU creation, PO creation, marketing, billing, and customer support. This role is a steppingstone to other careers within Family Dollar Merchandising.
