Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Associate Director for New Student Transitions & Family Engagement - Boca Raton, FL.
The position provides strategic leadership and oversight for new student transition, orientation, and engagement initiatives designed to support the successful onboarding and integration of incoming students and their families.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Technology, Marketing, & Communications:
Report to Director, New Student Transitions & Family Engagement.
UtilizeCampus ESP reservation platform to create events and manage orientationsessions as needed.
Lead on virtual orientations in Canvas.
Responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive communication plan for internal and external customers, including website, social media, campus tours, MYFAU event/experience guides, and printed materials
Orientation Programming:
Lead on Phase I & II for First-Year students and Transfer SOAR program.
Lead on How To FAU and First Saturday in Paradise.
Provide assistance in directing dual-enrolled students/families and FAU undergraduate degree seeking student and guest orientations.
Lead other new student-related initiatives, including registration materials, logistics, scheduling, partner involvement, etc.
Point person for students, faculty, and staff (Campus Partner Liaison) for the orientation programs. Ongoing phone and email communication with students, families, and other campus stakeholders. Provide students with regular updates on onboarding steps and timelines.
Constant communication with all onboarding areas; Registrar, Housing, SOAR, Immunizations, Undergraduate Advising Services, & Financial Aid. Ongoing training and updates from all onboarding areas to ensure accurate representation of areas, requirements, and opportunities for First-Year and Transfer students.
Use of Admissions Dashboard and/or CRM for communication.
Responsible for all logistics involved for orientation, including but not limited to room reservations, equipment reservations, PowerPoints, presenter communications, student/parent orientation materials, signage, parking, and other programmatic operations, and management of the “day of orientation” schedules.
Assist with directing partner campus orientation programs as needed (Wilkes Honors College, Davie).
Special populations liaison (special populations include Athletics, JM Corporate, etc.).
Orientation Leaders:
Assist in directing orientation leaders and interns, recruitment, selection, and training.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director for Orientation Operations, facilitate spring and intensive trainings.
Collect quotes and secure sponsorships for uniforms, meals, and other Orientation Leader and/or SOAR expenses.
Oversee move-in and move-out and coordinate logistics with Housing for Orientation Leaders on Boca and Jupiter campuses.
Attend SROW and develop travel itinerary, bookings, etc.
Develop assessment tool pre, during, and post role.
Supervise Major events and the engagement team representative.
Serve on the onboarding Team along with the Director (B-Team).
Ability to keep energy high while sharing information and engaging with stakeholders.
Represent the department on campus committees.
Supervise graduate and undergraduate level staff, when available.
Participate in assessment/evaluation and data management systems.
Supervision:
Direct supervision of the Assistant Director for Orientation Operations and the Student Experiences Coordinator.
Supervise student staff – Mentor Orientation Leaders and Orientation Leader team in partnership with Assistant Director.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
