The Tankerman is responsible for the safe loading and discharge of Caustic Soda and the preparation of barge equipment. They must also perform scheduled maintenance, conduct equipment rounds, and ensure all cargo documentation is in order.
Candidates must possess a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with specific STCW and National endorsements, including Tankerman PIC limited to Dangerous Liquid. A valid TWIC card, U.S. Passport, and current USCG STCW Medical Certificate are also required.
