The role primarily involves preparing meals according to prescribed diets and maintaining a sanitary kitchen and dining area. Additionally, the employee provides direct support services to individuals with disabilities as needed.
A High School Diploma or GED and a valid NYS Driver's license are required. Candidates should have cooking experience, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

Meal preparation in accordance with prescribed diets and consistencies in accordance to the planned menu. Communicate any dietary concerns/information to the dietitian as needed. Shopping for food and supplies as needed and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area, which includes kitchen equipment, in accordance with the agency standards and regulations. Additionally, the Cook will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized pantry/food storage area. Other duties may include inventory checks, attending meetings and trainings as needed and menu planning.
The Cook will be assigned a minimal amount of personal care responsibilities , but may need to play a greater role if program is short-staffed.
On average, the Cook with spend approximately 75% of the scheduled shift engaged in meal preparation and 25% with Direct Support Professional responsibilities.
Requirements
The candidate should have some cooking experience and organizational skills. The ability to learn, follow a menu and work independently is also required. The candidate needs to be a self-starter, able to create a menu and shop accordingly within the budget. Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus.
High School Diploma/GED is required. Proof will need to be provided prior to employment.
Valid NYS Driver's license is required.
