The Dining Services Assistant is responsible for delivering and serving prepared meals to residents accurately and timely. They must maintain a clean and sanitary work area while adhering to all food handling and nutritional regulations.
Candidates should have English literacy and communication skills, with a high school diploma preferred. Physical ability to lift 30 lbs and push a 300 lb cart is required.

The Dining Services Assistant facilitates the service of meals and ensures excellent customer service to our residents.

• Delivers, serves and retrieves prepared food accurately and in a timely manner, following department procedures. Makes corrections/substitutions as needed.
• Assures that all menu items and serving utensils needed for meal service are available and adequate prior to start of service.
• Follows all food handling regulations, to include proper wrapping, labeling, dating, and storage of food.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
• Completes necessary pre-preparation or stocking of food items or supplies for future meals.
• Consistently uses correct sanitation procedures and equipment, to include proper handwashing, wearing hair net, and using plastic gloves.
• Assists nursing staff to ensure that all food handling and nutritional requirements and procedures are adhered to.
Literacy and communication skills in English required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lb. and push cart weighing 300 lb.
Pleasant disposition and ability to work efficiently under pressure required.
Excellent Customer Service Skills.
Must be able to work as part of a team.

For more than 60 years, Stella Maris has offered a comprehensive range of health and residential services for the care of the elderly from retirement through the end of life. Since 1983, we have provided both inpatient and home hospice care, having established one of the first hospice care programs in Maryland. Our other services include long-term and dementia care, home health and personal care, counseling and bereavement services, medical care, rehabilitation, pastoral care, and a senior day center.
