Responsibilities
The Financial Clearance Coordinator will collaborate with the Patient Access Team to ensure complete and accurate information is provided for the pre-cert process, and is required to contact the patient or their representative to obtain any information not received at the time of registration. They will be responsible for collecting pre-service deposits and payments, or establishing payment plans. Screening for eligibility of 3rd party coverage including hospital Financial Assistance programs. Assists patient’s with completing and filing applications in addition to providing support for documentation retrieval and submission as needed. Completes all required follow-up activities, including, but not limited to County, State, Federal agencies to ensure cases are completed accurately and timely. In addition to the tasks outlined in this summary, the position also requires coordination of appeals, manage assigned inventories in Epic, process Maryland Medicaid newborn enrollment, oversight of 3rd party Medicaid vendor, audit of financial assistance programs and participation in safety programs.

EDUCATION
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
1 year of healthcare advocacy experience preferred
1 year of healthcare registration and billing experience preferred
State of Maryland Application Counselor Certification required, or obtain certification within six months of employment
