The Emergency Response Technician provides immediate emergency medical care, triage, and stabilization for detainees within the Cook County Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include performing advanced life support procedures, documenting clinical information in the electronic medical record, and transporting patients to healthcare areas.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, a valid Illinois EMT-P license, and current CPR and ACLS certifications. A minimum of two years of full-time emergency medical experience and competency in phlebotomy and Microsoft Excel are required.

JOB SUMMARY UNION - SEIU 73
As a first responder to emergencies in accordance with protocols, within the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC)/Criminal Courts Building Complex and the Department of Community Supervision and Intervention (DCSI). Utilizes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) skills as well as other technical skills to evaluate, triage and stabilize patients. Observes detainees for health problems, intervenes and reports clinical information to Physician, Physician Assistant (PA) or Registered Nurse (RN).
