About us
At Anglicare Southern Queensland, we believe everyone has a story. With a 150-year heritage, we exist for individuals of all life stages who may be experiencing challenges or entering a new phase of life. Our skilled staff deliver a breadth of care-based services across a vast geographic footprint, and in many types of locations.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and care. Join our team today, and make a difference today, tomorrow and together. Be where you are needed. Belong right here.
About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Recovery Practitioner – Sustainable Tenancies (QDAC) to join our Housing and Homelessness team. In this rewarding role, you will provide recovery-focused, client-centred support to individuals participating in the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (QDAC) program.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside Queensland Health and Queensland Corrective Services, you will help participants access safe and stable housing, sustain their tenancy throughout their Drug and Alcohol Treatment Order (DATO), and achieve positive recovery outcomes. Through strengths-based case management, you will empower individuals to build independence, strengthen life skills, reconnect with their communities, and overcome barriers to long-term housing stability.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting people on their recovery journey while collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver coordinated, holistic care. If you are passionate about housing, recovery, and helping people create lasting change, we would love to hear from you.
We have two permanent opportunities available based at our Housing and Homelessness Services office in Toowong, QLD—one full-time (1.0 FTE) position and one part-time (0.8 FTE) position. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are compulsory working days for both roles.
Responsibilities
Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based case management and individual support to service users to address identified needs and achieve recovery goals.
Develop, implement, and review individualised case plans, including goal setting and tailored support strategies that promote recovery and independence.
Provide planned interventions and practical supports that strengthen housing stability and promote sustainable tenancy outcomes.
Apply best practice, ethical, and professional standards while recognising the interconnected nature of housing, health, and social issues.
Work collaboratively with intake teams and stakeholders to complete required documentation, including assessments, self-needs reports, and related tools.
Facilitate access to resources, workshops, and activities that build life skills, resilience, and capacity for independent living.
Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reporting, and administrative records in line with organisational and compliance requirements, including incident and feedback processes.
Actively contribute to team effectiveness and continuous improvement through participation in meetings, training, professional development, and peer support, while promoting risk management and quality practice frameworks.
Qualifications, Credentials and Requirements
Current Blue Card
Current Queensland Driver Licence
Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field, or equivalent experience in community housing and/or alcohol and drug sector
Strong understanding and application of Trauma-Informed and Recovery-Oriented practice frameworks
Experience delivering intervention strategies, including support for families, homelessness, and individuals at risk
Experience in case management and assessment of adults who have a long term history of drug and alcohol misuse, knowledge of the public and community housing sector
Note :This role is embedded within a specialist women and families homelessness program and works primarily with vulnerable women impacted by homelessness, trauma, and domestic and family violence. Demonstrated experience working within women-only or gender-responsive services and supporting vulnerable women is highly desirable.
