Requirements
Candidates should have experience in regulatory compliance or investigations and the ability to interpret legislation. A relevant tertiary qualification in a field such as law, science, or construction is preferred.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Licensing and Regulatory Compliance department has an opportunity for a Compliance Officer to join the Compliance Response and Investigations team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll assess complaints and requests, gather information, visit sites and determine the appropriate response. You’ll work with customers, businesses, Council teams and external agencies to resolve issues and achieve practical outcomes. The role offers variety, with time spent both in the field and managing cases through to resolution.
You could expect to work on:
Assessing requests for service and determining the appropriate next steps
Carrying out site visits, gathering evidence and completing investigations
Providing advice and guidance to customers on their regulatory obligations
Working with internal and external stakeholders on complex matters
Preparing and progressing enforcement action where required
He kōrero mōu: About you
You’ll bring experience in regulatory compliance, investigations or a related field, along with the ability to interpret legislation and apply regulatory processes in your work.
We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:
Experience in compliance or regulatory roles, ideally involving the investigation or response to non-compliance
Experience assessing risk and de-escalating challenging situations across different environments
Experience working in a regulatory or government setting
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in compliance, risk management, resource management, building and construction, law, science or a related field
