We work with many of the world’s top multinational corporations, law firms, banks and private equity firms on their most important issues to deliver impact that makes a difference. From resolving disputes, navigating crises, managing risk and optimizing performance, our teams respond rapidly to dynamic and complex situations.

From day one, you’ll be an integral part of a focused team where you can make a real impact. You’ll be surrounded by an open, collaborative culture that embraces diversity, recognition, professional development and, most importantly, you.
Are you ready to make your impact?
About The Role
In the Mining Business Transformation team, we focus on our clients’ strategic and operational needs by addressing the full spectrum of performance, productivity, and financial challenges faced by mining organisations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies, and other stakeholders.
Our team partners with clients to improve performance, accelerate growth, and unlock long-term value. In Australia, we have developed a strong focus on the mining sector and are now seeking to grow that capability at a senior level. Our team combines practical mining operations experience with strategic and operational corporate advisory expertise, enabling us to engage credibly with boards, executives, and operational leaders.
We are seeking an experienced Manager level candidate (internal title will be Director) to join our Brisbane and Perth Mining – Business Transformation practice. This is a mid-leadership role for a commercially astute professional with a track record of delivering complex transformation engagements, building lasting client relationships, and driving business development in the mining and resources sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the growth and direction of our Australian Mining practice.
What You’ll Do
Project & Client Delivery
Managing day-to-day delivery of mining transformation engagements across strategy, operational performance, and business improvement, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard
Conducting and leading diagnostic assessments of operational performance across mining asset lifecycles and value chains, translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Designing and implementing transformation initiatives across operations and projects to deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in client performance
Preparing and reviewing client deliverables including reports, presentations, and board-level materials, ensuring clear and compelling storytelling throughout
Managing client relationships throughout engagement delivery, serving as the primary day-to-day point of contact and maintaining trust and confidence with operational leaders and senior stakeholders
Proactively identifying and managing engagement risks, issues, and scope, and escalating appropriately to ensure successful outcomes
Team Leadership & Development
Managing, mentoring, and developing project teams of consultants and senior consultants across engagements
Setting clear expectations for team performance, providing regular feedback, and supporting the professional growth of junior staff
Fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture consistent with FTI Consulting’s values
Contributing to internal capability development, including training, knowledge sharing, and the development of methodologies and thought leadership
How You’ll Grow
At this level, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of FTI Consulting’s Mining practice in Australia. You will work alongside globally recognised experts and access FTI’s international network of sector specialists, providing exposure to the most complex and high-profile mandates in the industry. You will also play an important role in building the next generation of mining transformation advisors, leaving a lasting impact on the team and the profession.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Basic Qualifications
4 to 7 years' of professional experience combining substantive mining or resources industry experience with management consulting or corporate advisory experience. Please note candidates with above 15 years' experience will not be eligible for these positions.
A proven track record of leading complex, large-scale transformation or performance improvement engagements in the mining or resources sector
Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships throughout engagement delivery, with experience engaging operational leaders and senior stakeholders
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing and developing multi-disciplinary project teams
A technical degree in engineering, mining, geoscience, or metallurgy, or a business degree in commerce, economics, finance, or a related discipline
Deep understanding of mining operations, asset lifecycle management, value driver frameworks, and major program delivery
