As a Senior Engineer specializing in industrial wastewater treatment systems, you will serve as a technical leader and strategic contributor in the design and execution of complex projects. You will lead engineering efforts from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful project delivery. In this role, you will mentor junior and project engineers and engage directly with clients to develop innovative solutions for challenging industrial wastewater treatment needs.
Haskell executes projects ranging from $0.5 million to $100 million for clients in food and beverage, beer, wine and spirits, healthcare, and other industries across the U.S. and internationally.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Lead Technical Design: Direct and validate engineering designs for industrial wastewater treatment systems, including process design, hydraulics, and integration with plant utilities.
Project Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for the process and process-mechanical design on large-scale projects, and coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
Client Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance, technical insights, and innovative solutions to meet complex wastewater challenges.
Mentorship: Guide and develop junior and project engineers, fostering technical growth and leadership skills within the team.
Quality Assurance: Develop, review, and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Advanced Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve high-level technical issues during design and construction phases, leveraging deep expertise in treatment technologies.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations and client sustainability standards.
Vendor Coordination: Work directly with equipment vendors for the selection, specification, and negotiation for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, integrating best practices into project execution.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Support Business Development: Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and strategic planning for wastewater projects.
What You Need to Thrive:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial wastewater treatment design and project execution, including leadership roles.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of treatment technologies (biological, chemical, physical, advanced oxidation, membrane systems) and industrial wastewater hydraulics.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, hydraulic and/or biological process modeling tools.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead engineering design teams within budget and schedule.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.
