Join the Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) and help us push the boundaries in critical semiconductor domains, including advanced packaging, with the aim of reestablishing U.S. prominence in semiconductor manufacturing.
With over $1 billion in funding from the US DoD and the state of Texas, we’re at the forefront of creating cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes that will set the course for future advancements in semiconductor logic, memory, heterogeneous integration, chip cooling and more. Situated in the heart of Austin — named “America’s Coolest City” by Expedia and “The Best Place to Live in the U.S.” by U.S. News and World Report — the Texas Institute for Electronics embodies the city’s innovative spirit.

Purpose
The Manufacturing Operations Manager will lead end-to-end manufacturing operations of a semiconductor advanced packaging fabrication facility, with full accountability for wafer lot starts, cleanroom readiness, material flow, tool availability, and workforce execution. This role drives safe, disciplined, and high-yield manufacturing through rigorous operational controls, structured material and spares management, and tight coordination between production, engineering, facilities, and supply chain teams.

People, Shift & Gowning Readiness: Ensure shift staffing alignment with wafer start and production loads, guarantee gown room readiness for all shifts and contingency scenarios, and train and enforce cleanroom discipline and standard work.
Material Flow & Logistics Excellence: Ensure seamless lot movement with zero wafer loss or misprocessing, drive AMHS reliability and manual transport discipline, and minimize wafer handling defects and contamination risks.
Spares, Inventory & Cost Control: Ensure spares availability to meet tool uptime and production targets, drive cost discipline through optimized inventory management, and maintain accurate and audit-ready inventory logs and traceability.
Continuous Improvement & Stability: Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, lot start predictability, and inventory optimization; apply structured root cause analysis (8D, FMEA) to recurring FAB issues.
Required Qualifications
Ten years in semiconductor FAB or advanced packaging manufacturing.
Five years leading 24/7 manufacturing or operations teams.
Direct experience managing wafer lot starts and WIP control, cleanroom and gown room operations, and FAB material flow and logistics.
Strong background in advanced packaging or back-end semiconductor operations.
Deep understanding of FAB manufacturing flows and constraints, wafer lot control, dispatch rules, and MES logic, and advanced packaging integration steps.
Working knowledge of AMHS and wafer handling systems, spares, BOMs, and preventive maintenance strategies, inventory control systems, and ERP integration.
Expertise in SPC and yield management, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and cycle time analysis, ESD, contamination control, and cleanroom standards.
Strong execution-focused leadership with operational rigor.
Ability to manage high-mix, high-volume, and time-critical environments.
Financial acumen for inventory, cost, and capacity optimization.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant engineering or science stream.
More than ten years in semiconductor FAB or advanced packaging manufacturing.
More than five years leading 24/7 manufacturing or operations teams.
