Job Description
The Head of Department - Psychology provides academic leadership for the psychology academic team and is responsible for the academic quality, governance, and continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Psychology. Help establish and shape a new accredited program from the ground up!
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and improve Bachelor of Psychology programs to ensure compliance with APAC, HESF, and industry standards.
Provide academic leadership to support high-quality teaching, assessment, and student outcomes.
Oversee accreditation, curriculum review, quality assurance, and continuous improvement processes.
Embed ethical, evidence-based, culturally responsive, and inclusive practices within psychology education.
Contribute to academic governance and engage with industry and external stakeholders to enhance program quality and student experience.
Qualifications
PhD in Psychology or a closely-aligned discipline.
Proven academic leadership experience consistent with Academic Level B/C or above.
Strong experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance.
Sound knowledge of APAC accreditation, academic governance, and psychology education compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead academic staff, support student outcomes, engage stakeholders, and contribute to scholarly or research activity.
Registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, or eligibility for registration, is desirable.
Additional Information
The Bachelor of Psychology has been accredited by TEQSA and is currently progressing through approval processes with APAC. Expressions of interest welcome with appointment to the position being made upon course approval by APAC.
