Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Manager
What You'll Do:
Lead Our Cashier Team: Supervise and train cashiers to ensure they consistently provide excellent customer service and represent our brand with pride.
Master Cash Operations: Oversee all cash handling activities including opening and closing registers, counting cash, and reconciling discrepancies with precision and accuracy.
Ensure Policy Compliance: Make sure all cashiers adhere to our cash handling and cash register policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of operation.
Deliver Amazing Service: Provide exceptional customer service by personally assisting customers with purchases and inquiries, creating memorable experiences.
Maintain Excellence: Keep our checkout area clean, organized, and professional while resolving customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with management and corporate office to enhance processes and procedures related to our checkout operations.
Stay Current: Maintain awareness of all active promotions and advertisements to maximize customer satisfaction and sales opportunities.
Support Operations: Participate in inventory management activities as needed to keep our store running smoothly.

It is one of the longest continuing businesses in the state of Illinois. The business started in 1856 as Meehan's Hardware in Elgin, Illinois. Lyle A. Ziegler purchased Meehan's in 1930 and joined Ace Hardware Corporation in 1934. Ace Hardware was just 10 years old at the time, and was formed by five Chicago hardware retailers to improve their stores by purchasing product together. In 2013 David's son, Adam, became the fourth generation of Ziegler's to join the family business. At the beginning of 2015, David and Adam began to lead the day to day operations. The family business now includes nine stores in the Fox River Valley and is looking for additional locations in nearby markets.
