Full job description
Coefficient Health is seeking a Copy Supervisor who is an exceptional writer, intellectually curious thinker, and enthusiastic problem-solver. This full-time role is for someone who wants to shape brands, solve complex communication challenges, and elevate the work around them.
About Us, About You
Based in New York City, and launched in early 2023, Coefficient Health is a full-service healthcare marketing agency designed to be more like the commercial leaders we partner with. We bring science, strategy, creativity, and execution together to help pharmaceutical and biotech brands create meaningful change.
Our model calls for multidimensional talent. Here, you will have the opportunity to think outside of a narrow creative lane, digging into science, interrogating strategy, developing big ideas, and finding smart ways to bring them to life.
Are you curious by nature? Are you excited by taking on challenges without an obvious answer? Do you care deeply about language, but also want to understand the strategy, science, audience, and business problem behind it?
We are seeking exacting writers and editors who can recognize the difference between copy that is technically correct and copy that genuinely connects, generous collaborators who contribute to the team while taking personal ownership of your work, and people who bring enthusiasm to the process—even when the subject is complex or the timeline is tight.
If you’re ready to challenge yourself, expand your capabilities, and help shape the work rather than simply execute it, we’d like to meet you.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop strong creative work
Understand your client’s business, brand, audience, objectives, and competitive context to connect creative recommendations to a clear strategic rationale
Translate brand strategy, medical and scientific direction, and audience insights into compelling creative ideas and copy
Concept in close partnership with Art and contribute meaningfully to campaign development
Think across channels and identify the best way to bring an idea to life
Write and elevate copy
Develop clear, engaging, and accurate copy across audiences, brands, channels, and stages of the customer journey
Translate complex scientific and medical information into communications that are accessible without losing accuracy or nuance
Maintain a high standard for clarity, craft, consistency, grammar, and attention to detail
Edit and strengthen the work of other writers while preserving their ownership and helping them grow
Prepare work is strategically aligned, scientifically accurate, channel-appropriate, and client ready
Own assigned workstreams
Own creative execution for assigned projects, applying strategic direction from brief through final delivery
Protect the integrity of brand strategy, messaging, voice, claims, and creative expression
Anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and proactively recommend solutions
Balance creative ambition with timelines, budgets, regulatory requirements, and client needs
Remain hands-on in the work while providing direction and oversight where needed
Build strong partnerships
Collaborate generously across Art, Strategy, Medical, Account Services, Project Management, and other disciplines
Build credibility in client interactions through thoughtful communication, sound judgment, and consistently strong work
Present ideas clearly and confidently, articulating the strategic and creative rationale behind them
Advocate constructively for the strongest work while remaining open and responsive to feedback
Contribute to an entrepreneurial culture in which team members challenge one another thoughtfully and share accountability for the outcome
Desired Skills & Experience
Essential
An outstanding copy portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing, editing, and conceptual thinking
The ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity, precision, and creativity
Strong strategic instincts and an understanding of how copy supports audience, brand, and business objectives
Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn unfamiliar, technical, or scientific subject matter
Sound judgment, close attention to detail, and pride in producing excellent work
The ability to receive, interpret, and respond constructively to creative direction and feedback
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
A collaborative working style combined with personal ownership and accountability
The ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines
Professional copywriting experience appropriate to a supervisory role
Preferred
Experience in healthcare advertising, pharmaceutical marketing, medical communications, or another regulated or technically complex field
Familiarity with medical-legal-regulatory review and healthcare communication requirements
Experience developing integrated campaigns across multiple channels
A demonstrated interest in marketing medicine, science, or health
Healthcare agency experience can be valuable, but it is not the only path to success in this role. We welcome candidates from adjacent backgrounds who demonstrate exceptional writing, strategic thinking, learning agility, and genuine enthusiasm for healthcare.
