In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

The Music Business/Management Department Office Assistant supports the department’s day-to-day operations, communications, events, and special projects. Working closely with the department’s Project Manager, Chairs, and faculty, the student employee will assist with administrative projects, social media and promotional materials, event support, research, resource management, and other departmental initiatives. This position is designed for a reliable, organized, and creative student who is interested in gaining professional experience while contributing to the work of an active academic music business department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Department & Administrative Support
Provide administrative and project support to the Project Manager, department leadership, and faculty.
Assist with document preparation, spreadsheets, data entry, digital file organization, printing, scanning, and other departmental needs.
Help maintain departmental databases, records, shared resources, and project materials.
Assist with updating bulletin boards, digital displays, departmental resources, and other informational materials.
Prepare class materials, presentations, handouts, and other resources as requested.
Support routine departmental projects and follow-up tasks as assigned.
Communications, Social Media & Content
Assist with managing and maintaining the Music Business/Management Department’s social media channels.
Create and help schedule content promoting department events, opportunities, guest speakers, student and alumni accomplishments, faculty activities, and other department news.
Create posters, flyers, social media graphics, digital signage, and other promotional materials for departmental events and initiatives.
Assist with drafting, formatting, and distributing departmental announcements, newsletters, and other communications.
Help maintain an organized content calendar and identify opportunities to highlight department activities and accomplishments.
Capture basic photo and video content at department events when needed.
Assist with maintaining a consistent and professional presentation of the department across its communication channels.
Events & Industry Engagement
Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of department events, guest speakers, workshops, meetings, and student programs.
Support event logistics including materials, signage, check-in, hospitality, room setup, and breakdown.
Help prepare materials and communications for visiting industry professionals, alumni, partners, and guest speakers.
Assist with documenting and promoting department events before, during, and after they take place.
Projects, Research & Resource Support
Assist department staff and faculty with research, benchmarking, information gathering, and data organization.
Help research music industry developments, companies, organizations, events, educational programs, and other topics relevant to departmental initiatives.
Maintain and update lists, databases, and resources related to internships, industry opportunities, guest speakers, alumni, partnerships, events, and other department activities.
Assist with tracking project progress and organizing information related to ongoing department initiatives.
Support special projects and emerging department priorities as assigned.
Department Community Support
Help communicate department opportunities, events, and resources to Music Business/Management students.
Assist with student-focused programs and initiatives coordinated by the department.
Help gather and organize information highlighting student, alumni, and faculty accomplishments.
Contribute to maintaining an organized, collaborative, and professional departmental environment.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Current Berklee student in good academic standing and eligible for student employment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional, dependable, responsible, and able to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, and other student employees.
Strong working knowledge of common productivity and collaboration tools such as Google Workspace.
Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital communication.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Music Business/Management major or demonstrated interest in music business, marketing, entrepreneurship, or the music industry.
Experience creating social media content for an organization, business, artist, or student organization.
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar graphic design and content creation tools.
Photography, videography, or basic photo/video editing experience.
Experience with newsletters, email marketing, content calendars, or other digital communication tools.
Strong research and information-gathering skills.
Previous experience supporting events, projects, student organizations, or administrative initiatives.
Work Expectations:
Approximately 12–16 hours per week during the academic semester, based on departmental needs and student availability.
Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours is expected.
Some evening or event support may occasionally be required based on departmental programming.
Student employees are expected to represent the Music Business/Management Department professionally in their work and communications.

Through this position, students will have opportunities to develop practical skills in music industry communications, social media, content creation, graphic design, event coordination, research, project support, administration, and professional collaboration while gaining firsthand exposure to the operations and initiatives of the Music Business/Management Department.
