This is a permanent full-time position in our Prairies and Territories Assessment and Permitting Team based in the Edmonton office. There’s no end to the scope and significance of your work, and to where it can take you at Stantec.
Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Prairies and Territories Environmental Services group is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Planner to work with our Assessment and Permitting team in Alberta with preference for Edmonton and/or the surrounding area. The team is based in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and while we embrace our core value that “we are better together”, we do offer flexible work solutions and hybrid work situations.
In this role, the successful candidate will provide support to all stages of a project’s lifecycle including assessment, permitting and approval requirements, construction support, and post-construction support. Working with our biological, physical sciences, human environment, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading environmental assessments and permitting activities for a variety of projects focused on transmission and distribution.
The ideal candidate for this position is one that is a self-motivated, demonstrated effective communicator who thrives working in a team environment and a creative thinker with demonstrated problem solving skills and a drive to support clients and internal teams to find solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review environmental evaluations, regulatory applications and technical submissions.
Comply with health and safety and quality management processes.
Collaborate with Stantec colleagues on pursuits and project delivery that involves assessment and permitting.
Drive project delivery with a key focus on efficient execution, project controls, and safety.
Work in a collaborative team of technical environmental and engineering specialists to support the approval and permitting process.
Contribute to proposals, pre- qualifications, and relationship building with existing and prospective clients.
Communicate and collaborate with other environmental and regulatory specialists to ensure consistency in project execution.
Participate in team and independent based work.
Take part in on-the-job learning and professional development opportunities.
Develop relationships with new and existing client contacts.
