Auckland Council’s Swimming Pool Compliance team has an opportunity for a Swimming Pool Fencing Allocator, a key role supporting safe and compliant residential pool fencing across Tāmaki Makaurau.
You’ll coordinate the full workflow of swimming pool fencing inspections, manage daily scheduling for field staff, and be a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact for customers navigating inspection requirements.
This role suits someone who enjoys fast‑paced operational work, clear communication, and problem‑solving with a calm, customer‑focused approach. You’ll help ensure inspections meet statutory timeframes, maintain accurate records, and contribute to promoting safe pool environments for all Aucklanders.
Day‑to‑day you could expect to work on:
Scheduling inspections ensuring all residential pool fencing inspections are booked within statutory timeframes
Allocating field tasks managing daily workflows and work schedules for inspectors
Coordinating customer appointments confirming access requirements, sharing updates, andsupporting customers through the process
Providing guidance offering advice to builders, owners, architects, and developers when remedial works are required
Collaborating across teams working closely with Building Consents and Regulatory Support

This role requires experience in similar compliance or regulatory positions, along with a solid understanding of key legislation such as the Building Act and Local Government Act. You’ll be confident working autonomously, comfortable coordinating multiple moving parts, and able to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide range of customers and stakeholders.
You’ll bring strong initiative, excellent time management, and a collaborative mindset, paired with the ability to build trusted relationships across a geographically spread team.
Some of the key requirements we’ll be looking for are:
Compliance or regulatory work experience, ideally 2+ years
Pool fencing or building‑related assessment experience is preferred but not essential
Experience with Council systems including Inspect, Naviplan, and SAP
Accurate record keeping using scheduling and booking tools
Relationship building with customers, builders, and internal teams
Effective issue resolution for scheduling conflicts and enquiries
A clean, full New Zealand driver licence is also required due to the operational nature of the role
