KSPS PBS is hiring a Major Giving Officer!
In this role you will build meaningful relationships with individuals capable of making significant philanthropic investments in KSPS PBS. This position identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors by connecting their interests with the mission, programs, and long-term priorities of the station.
Working in partnership with the Director of Development and the Senior Major Giving Officer, this role manages an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, develops individualized engagement strategies, prepares proposals and stewardship materials, and helps grow a sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support. The Senior Major Giving Officer serves as the team's senior frontline fundraiser and provides collaboration and mentorship on complex donor strategies; both positions report directly to the Director of Development.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Spokane, WA. The role requires regular local and regional travel and occasional evening or weekend work for donor meetings, station events, and community engagement.
Salary: $93,000–$98,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Major Gift Management
Manage an assigned portfolio of approximately 100-150 qualified major gift donors and prospects
Develop and execute individualized strategies for donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
Build trusted relationships through personal visits, telephone calls, correspondence, and meaningful engagement
Solicit major gifts and multi-year commitments aligned with annual fundraising goals and donor capacity
Prepare compelling proposals, gift agreements, briefing materials, and impact reports in collaboration with colleagues
Maintain timely and accurate donor records, contact reports, and portfolio activity in Allegiance
Maintain working knowledge of planned giving opportunities and collaborate on complex/estate gifts
Collaboration and Community Engagement
Partner with the Senior Major Giving Officer on principal gift strategies and complex donor relationships
Engage leadership, board members, and program staff in donor cultivation and solicitation as appropriate
Collaborate across departments (Development, Marketing, Education, Production, Engineering, Programming) to connect donor interests with station priorities
Represent KSPS PBS at community events and build relationships with civic, business, and philanthropic leaders
Participate in donor events, pledge activities, and fundraising campaigns as assigned
Maintain strict confidentiality of donor information and comply with organizational privacy, ethics, and data-security policies
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job.
Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, relationship management, consultative sales, or a comparable field.
Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and move prospective supporters toward meaningful commitments.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate persuasively with a wide range of people.
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio, competing priorities, and confidential information.
Proficiency with common office technology and comfort learning donor databases, research tools, and digital communication systems.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the KSPS PBS service region and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success securing five- or six-figure gifts or comparable commitments.
Experience managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.
Experience with Allegiance, Salesforce, Blackbaud, or another donor CRM.
Knowledge of planned giving concepts and donor stewardship practices.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
CFRE credential or progress toward professional fundraising certification.
Experience in public media, education, arts and culture, civic engagement, or another mission-driven organization.
Work Environment
This position primarily works in an office and community-facing environment and regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, communicating in person and by telephone or computer, reviewing detailed information, and operating standard office equipment. The employee may occasionally lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Regular local and regional travel is required.
